Late notice - but I just thought I put this up for those in Perth I haven't contacted (ie: don't know you're in Perth!). Will be having a social run Monday evening - PM me for details.

    Cheers

Isn't there a lotuschat.com for this content? What is exotic or interesting about a Vauxhall engined FWD Lotus Elan?

Or better still try porschechat.net, they'll probably welcome your posts and feel sorry for you 'cos you can't afford a Porsche either.

Yes in fact. The Porsche GOR crap has been winding me up. Now we get the Perth Lotus club run. I'm just fed up with all the non-Ferrari content creeping in here. Anyone who has a photo of their favourite car seems to think that this is their outlet.

I just don't get it that, when there are thousands of specialist car sites on the web, the aussie section of fchat gets buried in Jap/UK/German content. It's looking like "FastFours" magazine around here lately.

If non-Ferrari photos are posted, it should be special cars. Not everyday sh*tboxes with no history or relevance.

People come here in the first place because Ferraris are more interesting (and in some cases, Ferrari people more interesting, myself, PP and Moretti excluded :)). I think we should make some effort to focus the content here on Ferrari topics.

Otherwise, the only people contributing won't have anything to say about Ferraris apart from seeing one in the street.

people cried when I was mod for deleting this rubbish, others cried because I wouldn't ....... in a no win situation I deleted it :)

I am a fascist after all, but a Ferrari fascist, I can appreciate other marques but if I want to see them I go to that site, I certainly don't expect to find the latest egg in fchat

there is the "non-Ferrari thread" for all the bum fluff

btw, drove the Qv to Brissy today, finally worked out what Ferraris and Lambos are all about, they are art for the great unwashed drivers to look at :D

I have to agree, that sometimes the Aussie forum seems to get a little off topic, however,

This is the ‘Australia’ section, and things are a little more casual in here? Surely if you want specific just straight up model specific discussion etc, you go to the 3x8 forum, or the BB & TR forum, or the Modern forum.

I kind of thought that the Australian section was more for us Aussies to get together and discuss what’s current to us and all just get together and have a good time?

So yes there are members of this forum who have Porsches, Lambo’s, Lotus’, Jag’s, RR’s etc, but were all friends in here (for the most part), and surely we can be civil if a fellow board member has something to share about the (quite small) car sub culture which exists here in Aus?

I also am not into Jap cars like EVO’s WRX’s etc, however if one of our forum members has something to share surely we can all be civil about it?

Just out of curiosity? What constitutes ‘special’ these days? Some people on this board even quip at the fact that Ferrari’s are common now?

    Just my 2 cents?

If they googled Aussie Lotus Forum they'd come across something useful. ;)

But wow, all those English cars and no firetruck?

You're quite right, no reason why people can't post pics of non ferraris here, that's why we have a "Non-Ferrari spotters" thread. The non-Ferrari content is easily avoided then.

There is a point where too much ordinary-car content makes the aussie section a waste of time for everyone.

Whether or not you think Ferraris are common, this is a Ferrari chat site and even the most "ordinary" Ferrari belongs here.

A "special" car has a competition pedigree or is exclusive or important in some way. It's a question of taste, knowledge and judgement. If in doubt, post your pics on the Lotus/Porsche/Jag/etc sites.

so by that, im guessing no Zonda's, Koenigsegg's, Lambo's, Caparo's, Ascari's, Atom's, or Rolers, because they have no competition pedigree,

but Bently's, Jags, Porsches, Lotus' are OK? because they have competition pedigree?

i guess Aedo posted the pics on here, because he did actually invite people from this board to the event, and it was just a conclusion to the invitation.

This is a pointless argument, but if you're asking, here's what I think.

Zonda = a glorified kit car with a Benz engine, but it is fast and exclusive and Italian so it gets a gig.
Koenigsegg = a glorified kit car with a Ford engine (with some proprietary bits). Only drug dealers would buy one, so pass.
Lambo = a fast tractor, definitely not good enough for this site. :D
Caparo = Yet another underfunded, silly pommy kit car that will be forgotten next year.
Ascari = Caparo = Noble = Connaught = etc, etc, etc
Atom = a good clubman or motorbike alternative but thats all.
Roller = a silly car for deluded plutocrats and retired carpet salesmen from Florida.

Bentley = multiple Le Mans winner. Vintage (pre 1932), Continental R and T, Arnage, Brooklands = class, pace & taste.
VW models only bought by footballers, Paris Hilton and drug dealers.

SOME Jags and Porsches have a competition pedigree. Most are just volume cars and plenty are ordinary, selling on past glories or an over-rated image. Its way too easy to pick on Lotus road cars, so I will abstain. (plus, I quite like Lotus Cortinas :))

Is there anyone I haven't offended yet? :)

Oooh, this is getting tricky! :)

70's Maseratis....Ghibli, Bora, Khamsin, Indy, are all cool and undervalued IMHO.

The various Biturbo models are more than a bit sad.

    Post-Ferrari engineered cars are in.
