I thought it was a given that the Gallardo was faster than the 360 on the track, but not as fast as the 430? Why does the gallardo win on this test track? Nice track! Where is it? Name? 430 vs gallardo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zyzxz0Hinoo I found link in this thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=174132
Tires differences and setup will easily account for the marginal 0.9sec difference in that particular comparison. In the real world the two are equal in performance and price. So really depends on if you are concerned about value after purchase. The Ferrari will be worth more in the long run.
funny....how the car steps out when you turn the traction off. Still rather buy the Ferrari and save myself the tens of thousands in depreciation vs the immediate appreciation on the Ferrari.
Can't really take anything that Clarkson does in his DVD's as "technically factual" On Top Gear, "The Stig" managed a 1:25.7 out of the Gallardo Spyder while running a much faster 1:23.2 in the F430 Spyder. Clarkson has a Gallardo roadster, so he is obviously biased.
The funny thing is that the Ferrari beat the Gallardo in the 1/4 mile test they did. Gallardos will land strong lap times, but as Jeremy said, they're not the same to drive, and isn't that what it's all about?
At the end of the test he says he bought the Lambo! Liked it better ( he traded in his GT 40) see video part 2 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUYQWK0B9es Jeremy seems like a fun guy... and has always been a huge Ferrari fan (although not afraid to speak his mind when somthing goes wrong). I just thought it was interesting to see a guy that gets to drive all the cars hard (street and track)....picked the little Lambo for a change (and over the 430?) .
I have watched first hand the F430 line up with the G (last December) and every time the G would beat it by many car lengths. The problem is the F430 is a pig off the line. Here is a video of race I saw first hand. They raced 3-4 times and the result was the same. I also know the driver of the F430 and he a experienced drag racer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2uxsUFtkvg
Personally, I can't imagine anyone with a 430 (or a G) caring much about off-the-line performance. These aren't drag racers. Gary
Anyone have a good side-by-side shot? Which one of our F-chaters shot this photo? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Ferrari was sliding all over the place and always kicked out at the exit of turns. Also look at the chicane near the end of the video, the Lambo takes it nearly straight as the Ferrari slips and slides sideways all the way through. On;y being down .9 of a second after "such" a long track signals victory if they hadn't been drifting the car.
What test was this? I personally believe its a pure drivers race sense both cars are practically evenly matched in my opinion. I have seen an F-430 get spanked in the 1/4mile personally by an SRT-10 coupe and the driver in the F430 was good.
Many pics abound, Google is your friend: http://images.google.com/images?q=f430%20gallardo Image Unavailable, Please Login
"Immediate Appreciation?" Martin those days have been over for a while. The likely hood of them returning for many years is zero.
Ain't that the truth. Noticed all those stringent rules and conditions for buyers went straight out the window the first week.
I have a great side-by-side shot... in my garage. I have an '07 F430 and an '06 Gallardo Spider. Without going into tons of detail right now: - Ferrari: Feels lighter and faster. Shifts are quicker, there's a lot more room inside and there's some storage (as opposed to no storage in the "G") - Lambo: EPIC exhaust note, 4-wheel drive makes the car feel as if it's on rails, front-end lift allows me to drive the "G" daily. I have driven them both, over the same road, back-to-back and I'd swear the Ferrari was faster. One other non-performance fact... guys love the Ferrari, but women love the Lambo Frank Image Unavailable, Please Login
