I have been reading Road & Track, Car and Driver, and Motor Trend magazines for about 20 years now, and I have have kept pretty much every issue I have ever bought. Needless to say, they take up a lot of space. Since I don't really go back to the older issues much anymore, maybe it's time to get rid of them. It would be a shame to just toss them in the garbage.

Is there any value to these older issues?

    Suggestions?

Dunno, but you should probably invest in a good scanner that will do double-sided scans and has a document feeder. Personally, if you're going to toss them, I'd take a Saturday and scan them. I have some old issues as well - some dating back to 1981 or so. Ebay'ing them and then scanning would make sense.

Ebay is definitely an option. I would guess the magazines that featured a supercar would be the most valuable. I had the same problem as you but I had to start recycling them. I only kept the magazines which had rare cars that were road tested or had a road test of a car I have owned in the past. The only magazines I keep and will keep in the future are Forza and a majority of the European car magazines I buy.

I used to have years worth of the same car mags and finally dumped them all. No one wanted them. I still have a full collection of Forza and nobody wants that either (and I don't mean free lol). One thing's for sure... they're heavy! I can't imagine what shipping will cost for the whole set.

If you have an issue with the 1994 348 Spider, I'd be interested :)

I recycled years of Autoweek... nobody wanted them. I think I kept the issue with sketches of the Lamborghini Portfolio concept, and that mini-van that split off into a micor car.

Yet another way in which the internet has changed our lives!!!

I have 24 issues of Forza. October 2003-November 2006. Several are still sealed in plastic. Even the unsealed issues are in perfect shape. I hate to just toss them in the trash. So if anyone wants them enough to help with the shipping, I'll send them your way.

I have most of the F1 Racing magazine issues from 1997-2003 in excellent condition. If anyone wants them for whatever shipping costs PM me.

I have tons of magazines going back to the late 80s. If you don't care about getting money for them, put them on Craigslist in the free section. I am sure you can find someone that will want them. I think you can also donate them to libraries, or even hospitals or gyms. Pretty much anything with a waiting room might be willing to take them off your hands.

I have pretty much given up on the American car mags, Evo, Top Gear and Car are just so much better.

I have about 10+ boxes of 80's & 90's car magazines in my parents garage, I thought about putting some of them on Ebay but I need to reexamine their current condition they have been in there for about 10 years.

I checked out E-Bay to see what kind of prices might be on old car magazines. I have discovered they they are pretty much worthless. Looks like the garbage bin is where they'll end up.

I had a collection of 'On Track' that started from issue #1, but tossed most of them in the late 80's. Before EBay.
Most folks don't even know that OT started as a newspaper before going to magazine style/size.

I have every issue of Car & Driver dating back to 1988. I've thought of getting rid of them, but I have to admit, it's kind of fun to go back and look at some of the old ones. I'll probably keep them forever.

This is truly depressing to me because I have been collecting magazines since the mid 80's and I always thought they had some value. I just can't see scanning them into the computer. There is just something about holding the magazine in your hand.

I used to keep 2 issues of 'Computer Shopper' each year, about 6 months apart, starting in about 1986 or so.

I was on vacation and my boss tossed them.... pisst me off. It was kinda fun to see a 286 with 4mb of ram and a 60mb HD going for $3,500.
I don't remember the older stuffs' prices like 8086's..... but I had those issues, too.
