355 pulls to the left when given gas.

What does it do when you hit the brakes?

 

Maybe a rear problem?

 

Mine does the same thing though first it goes a tad to the left then it straightens up slowly..... all while leaving two dark black stripes on the asphalt.......

I think you may have some bad suspension bushings or a bad alignment. Does the car wander at all, during normal driving?

Check your air pressure in all 4 tires; should be equal and below some figure like 38 psi or so.
Physically read the brand name and tire model # on both rear wheels (looking carefully for minor differences in #'s).
Check for wear and damage on both rear tires.

Post the results here. Those are the free tests.


If you have no discrepancies above, I'd suggest:
4 wheel alignment
Turning all 4 rotors down
new brake pads


If the problem still persists, I'd try:
changing gear oil and adding limited slip modifier,
new wheels and new tires on the rear.


If the problem still exists after all of the above, then it may be time for a rebuild of your differential. There may be a free test for this condition with the wheels in the air. If so, obviously do the free test first.

 

There is probably a worn rear suspension componant that causes the rear end to steer when you get on the gas. Raise the car and check for any play in control arm bushings, rear wheel bearings.

 

Make sure that the ride height is set to the correct measurement. For example if your left front measures 165mm from the floor up, your right front measures 170mm, the left rear measures 200mm, and the right rear measures 190mm, the car is sitting cockeyed. Ideally you want the two front measurements to both be the same, and the rears the same. So they could be something like 165mm on both fronts, and 185mm on both rears.

Think of it like a chair that isn't even. When you sit in the chair it will tilt to the side that is off the most. If you lean back it tips one way, if you lean forward it tips another. But when you sit in a chair that has all the legs even the chair doesn't move. It's sort of the same thing with the car. When you get on the throttle the car tips back and thus "pulls" one direction, and when you let off it tips forwards and "pulls" another.

Then check the condition of your hub axle bearings. A bad hub bearing can cause the same thing. But for starters check the ride height.

 

Seconding this. My 348 did the same and the pressures were slightly off.

 

torque steer... i think your 355 is fwd

 

Does the car "squat down" harder to one side when you accelerate. If it was suspension related I'd think you notice it when braking very hard. Does it do it in every gear, or just 1st and 2nd? It could be the diff or a wheel bearing as well.

 

Robert, the one time mine did this was when I had a very low tire. With low profile tires, I really didn't notice one of the rears being down. Congrats, didn't know you joined the 355 brotherhood.

Before you get too excited mate, check those tyre pressures.
If the tyre pressures are ok, then get a wheel alignment done.
