Anyone have a factory spare that came with their car? Was thinking of getting one because it didn't come with one. The more I thought about---I can't remember any 355 I have seen having one...I know it was a option...If anyone has one can you post pics of it and how the brackets get mounted in the front bonnet..

More common(like anything of this sort is so..lol) on the Euro cars...very hard to find used and very expensive. I can honestly say that in the past 7 years I have seen only 2 FS and they were in the UK.

I'll keep an eye out if no one here has one for sale.

I actually bought a 355 spare wheel and brackets from this seller for my 348 around 1 month ago. :D:D
I have only ever seen one 355 spare wheel for sale and I thought I better buy this one for my car! :):)
I have not mounted the wheel in my car yet. The tyre is new, but a little old and perished. I am currently chasing up a new tyre for mine before I mount it in the trunk. :):)

I saw that already and put it in my Watch list. Just curious how it mounts and if anyone had pics of how to mount it in there.. The shipping from Aussieland is going to be a killer...

    Bah, I bought two Fix-A-Flat's at the hardware store for $3.99 each and have AAA Plus. Saves weight too! ;

I mainly just want the comfort of having it in the car in case something happens--You never know...May be cheaper to just buy a regular full size wheel and keep it in there...

"Comfort" is AAA Plus...their flat bed can cover more issues than just a flat tire...like a failed clutch, ignition, etc.

That would be great, but there are no AAA tow companies in this county. There were a few here and there but AAA had a problem paying there bills to those tow companies. So all the local tow companies dropped them from their lists...I get people in crashes who want AAA to tow there vehicles. Average response time is about 2-3 hours waiting for an authorized AAA tow truck. We tell them if they can get there car off the roadway and they want to wait, go ahead but we will not wait around for AAA. There reputation has gone in the toilet when you really need them...Maybe check your local area and make sure there are actually local tow companies who use them--if not you may be in for a LONG wait when you really need them...

I'd just go with the cell phone for that kind of cost and call a tow truck if needed. I haven't needed a tow in 20 yrs of driving and saved a ton in AAA membership (what does that cost per year?) I'd only do that spare if I was nutso about concours points.

2 hours from home---you cut a sidewall in a tire---can not be repaired, I want the ability to change the tire and go about my business----not wait 2 hours for a tow truck to end up towing me home, then scraping the front bumper to boot. A 355 will NOT go on a normal rollback w/o scraping like crazy..---just piece of mind I guess.

I never needed it either...until twice in the past 12 months! (btw both times they responded with a flat bed within 40 minutes and you are right about the 355 on a flat bed, but any professional operator will have the proper boards and such needed to get the car up with minimal hassles) I think it is $85 per year, but I get it back in spades in discounts. For example: hotel, rental car, and restaurants...typically I can save an additional 5 to 10% on hotel and rental car rates (I travel a lot for work). Free maps, which is handy (I have a AAA office 1/2 mile from my house too). They also have great deals on shopping too, if you or your wife are into that. I was at an outlet mall today in the San Diego area and picked up the AAA coupon book for additional discounts at many of the retailers. AAA is also handy if you need them to change a tire, lock out service, jumps starts and they even have a new battery service where they will come to you and install a new battery with a 3 year free replacement warranty at competitive prices. They also have a discount travel service and auto insurance too. They offer way more than towing these days.

BTW, of the friends of mine with exotics that needed a flatbed, less than half were for a tire related issue it was some other mechanical problem.

    Tow hook and skid plates!!!

I agree...2 hrs away could be trouble.

F355 - interesting, I didn't realize AAA did all that stuff. Still no need, I travel so much for work I have millions of hotel / air points.

ok, if a spare is needed the cheapest way may be one of those Ebay wheels, if you can get just one. I'd still rather spend the $$$ on the cross drilled rotors being discussed in the other thread...

Another nice feature with AAA (I am sound like a commercial I know ;) ) is with membership, it works with any car you are driving, even a friends or family member's.

The wheel, tire, and mounting brackets in the US are around 2500-3000 USD
