    Can anyone please give me a hint about how to get a minimized window to appear as a button on the taskbar rather than as shown in this jpeg?

    anyways, regarding your question...are you trying to enlarge it where it doesn't enlarge where you can see it? or...trying to get it to behave or look a different way?

    (As the thread title says,) it's Windows98 -- but ribbing accepted ;)

    What I was looking for was to have minimized windows appear as buttons on the taskbar as shown in this jpeg, but it's all working OK now (after restarting). I use a web-based back-up service that often sends windows update files so I'm guessing that they send something, and I didn't restart. Thanks for the responses, but all is OK now so cancel my request.
