Well, not as good looking as the CH grille, but X's car is a tracker and that design is far superior in moving air for his track use....pic was not intended for everyone as he and I had pm'ed concerning this part....just took this thread as an opportunity for him to see what I was talking about.
I think this grill could be very effective as long as the extra airflow did not somehow draw more air from under the car and destroy its flow and maybe up the drag in doing so. I don't know the flow patterns. Also, I guess you could take the stock 355 grill and just cut this or similar window out and just lay diamond aluminium screen in there for a home made challenge grill for about 10 bucks in materials! You guys have seen my car...functional only. Esthetics have been questioned.
I agree, there's plenty of stock grills floating around from those who went with the Challenge upgrade. Have a shop CNC cut any design you want, or DIY real carefully.
Absolutely that is what I did.........stock rear panel + $10= Big Improvement....with the money you save over the OE CH....well, with a little extra a nice LW race seat
I think a hood would be very nice as long as the head lamp pods were done as well. IMO it looks a little odd with just the hood in Carbon.
Harmony autosports makes them for $2500US, $800 for the mold. You send your hood and they make the mold nice looking work. Do you really want to save some real weight? I'll tell you were it is in the 355!
We have made a couple hoods for the 355 - and there's no worry about matching the headlight buckets because OF COURSE you paint it. I hate to say it, but shipping to Japan would be a very expensive proposition, and I bet there are plenty of shops there that could do a good job themselves.
Of course you dont Why pay so much money on a custum made bonnet just to go and paint the headlight pods black. Carbon covers or complete units are in order. You were talking about the light pods right?
Funny, people think that just because it's CF it should or has to remain unpainted! Every professional series race car that I've built with CF bodies were painted....someone tracking a car and doesn't want the weight of the paint I can understand. On F street cars maybe the rear cover, splitter,or minor trim like RV mirrors, but a hood????? You're right Chris, pretty much the RR's that leave it exposed.
Guys name in Miami is Rico Campos. I have gone back and forth with him on e-mail. He quoted me around 1900 front bumper, 1700 rear. He makes other parts as well for many GT race teams. He noted the bumpers weigh about 7lbs and can be made up in about ten days. E-mail is [email protected]. He is a little on the high side, but he may come down with a volume order. I was waiting for Plugz to get the other deal together for the 348s. I would possibly be interested, even though I have a 348. Keep us posted, Scott
Many thanks Scott, you're the man, for sure....After hearing of this guy some time ago I never could get anyone to cough up a name or phone #. Those prices are for CF correct??? Guess now it's up to the brotherhood to persue if they want these parts. Hey, sorry if my post appeared to be a hammer...lol
You are correct sir, all CF vacuum bagged and primered with K38 out the door. He did not have pics of the 355 parts, but had a lot of pics for the Porsche bumpers and such. Keep us informed, Scott
