    Hi all,
I just finished my first attempt of repainting a modelcar. I used a blue Bburago 456 GT which was slightly damaged over the time and was therefore just sitting in my closet. So, after a couple of years being untouched, I decided to give this car a new identity. I always liked black 456's , and I thought that black would be the easiest color to apply at a first modelcar repaint attempt. So I decided to make it black. Before I started, I obtained some information on messageboards like these on how to get started and what steps to follow. At my very first attempt I messed up. I made a big mistake by using a cheap spraycan, and only sand the model with sandpaper. (Yes, I was a little too cocky I guess ;) ) So I decided to remove all paint with a paint remover, and start all over. This time I first covered the model with spray primer to get a smooth base. After that I applied the black layers with a spray can of special car paint from the local car-shop. I also repainted the rims and exhaust with special rim paint, because I didn't like the stock color, which was chrome like and that was a little too blingy for me ;)
Here are some pictures (sorry, no top quality pictures. I made them with the camera on my mobile phone, I don't have a digital camera yet...)

    With primer on it:

I know it's not perfect but recalling that it's my first attempt, I think it pretty nice. In reality it really looks better than in the pictures.
At least I have gathered some experience for potential future repaint projects.
Hope you guys like it. And I hope I have given some of you an idea for your next project ;)

looks good. What kind (brand) of paint remover did you use and under what circumstances do you paint (booth, ventilation)?

Thanks guys for the kind replies. I'm pretty satisfied with the result, and it was great fun to do. And indeed, as Kerbie mentioned, I am now hungry for more :) so I'm planning to do another one soon. The 456 was quite an easy model to start with, not so many parts and easy to take apart, so I might try a little more difficult one. I'm thinking about my blue Bburago 996 TT as a next project. Any color suggestions?

I used a paint remover which I bought at the local DIY-shop (Verfafbijt Super van de Gamma).
And although I know it is highly unrecommended, I just paint inside my house, in a small room, with opened windows for ventilation.
