I found these articles on Piquet interesting:

I think the following scenario is quite possible for 2008:

    - Piquet Jr races alongside Alonso next year at Renault.
    - Piquet Jr stays near Alonso in the points, maybe even pulling off a Hamilton in the early part of the season (the part about beating Alonso in points, not beating everyone).
    - Crybaby Alonso doesn't like being beaten or out-qualified, begins to have issues with his team (again).
    - Renault is competitive again (a top 3 team).
    - Crybabies at McLaren continue their attack on Renault in Spy Controversy #2 - The Revenge. The controversy spills over into the 2008 season.
    - McLaren is successful in getting the FIA to impose a harsh penalty against Renault, mid-season.
    - Sore Alonso makes it public he will be leaving Renault at the end of 2008 to bring his immature attitude to Ferrari in 2009, and attempt to ruin my favourite team.

Thoughts? I don't like this scenario, but I would not be surprised if much of it is played out. McLaren is trying hard to make anyone else look bad right now, and I assume they will continue to do so for whichever team gets Alonso.

My preference would be to see Kovalainen and Piquet Jr at Renault, Hamilton and De La Rosa at McLaren, and Alonso at Force India :) (or stay home), and never at Ferrari in the future.

Someone please tell me, who would Alonso replace at Ferrari in 2009??

    Kimi?

I do not think it likely he will retire in 12 months now that he has tasted the WDC. Please explain why you think he would leave.

    Massa?

And someone here thinks it feasible that Alonso will be OK as the second #1 to Kimi?? This is not a yes or no question. He couldn't handle Lewis, so what is the reasoning to think he would be OK with Raikkonen when in 2008 Ferrari has already stated that they will not start the season with a #1 or #2 driver, but two #1's (or two #2's depending on your perspective).

My take? Alonso will be forced to sign a 2-3 year contract starting in 2008, whether it be Renault or DEI. Alonso will not race at Ferrari until Hell freezes over. Which, with global warming and all could happen in 2011. When and if Kimi retires by then.

IF that happens, I assume he would Replace Kimi and Kimi would move somewhere else, because Massa will still be under contract at that time.
I agree with the second post here:
    http://forums.autosport.com/showthread.php?threadid=97684

I only made the Alonso in '09 prediction because:
    1) It was widely speculated that Alonso made an 'extended visit' to Modena when meeting with the Italian Magistrate last month.
    2) LdM has made some ridiculous, unnecessary positive comments about Alonso. "Alonso is a real champion, in every sense, an extraordinary driver. I've really appreciated his sportsmanship." -Gazzetta dello Sport

That made me think LdM will push for it, especially now with Todt out of the way.

Don't get me wrong - I do not like the idea at all. I just think it is very possible the way things are playing out right now. If Alonso only signs a 1-year contract for 2008, will you buy into this speculation?

Alonso is a troublemaker. He would cause trouble at Renault next year. Obviously he already is in a sense, by refusing to sign a 3-year contract. That would be enough of a clue for me as team principal not to touch him. Let him sit at home.

Don't forget; Alonso might go to BMW (I hope never see him in a ferrrari)
heidfeld only has a contract for 2008 while Kimi's contract expires in 2009 (include)
Bmw is getting better every year, and could be strugeling for the title very soon..so it might be a good option for Alonso.
In theory there would be no room at ferrari in 2009.

    what do you think?
