On his website he wants $11,500 for it. A good fixer upper. He also has an '85 Mondial Cab for $22,500. A couple good ones for someone interested in some elbow grease.

That 308 is near me and was on ebay a few weeks back. I contacted the owner and found the car to be no bargain (if that makes sense). It has some body damage, what history their is- isn't good, and I had trouble with the paint scheme.

Can you be more specific? Others might be interested in the details. Not much info on the Craigslist ad.

I'm not looking for a fixer-upper but I am always "looking". If the right bargian comes along (fixer upper or well sorted car), I hope to join the club (so to speak).

Sorry Birdman - I didn't see your post. I never got to see the car in person as my correspondances with the owner led me to beleive this wasn't a good oportunity for me. The info I recieved on the car was that it was a repo of some sort (sketchy details). It was listed on ebay and the local craigslist as excellent (or some adjective resembling "perfect" - but I don't want to misrepresent as I don't remember the original ad verbatum) but, some pics showed clear body damage (dent, cracks /possible paint bubbles). When asked, the responses were less than forthcoming or even corrective. The car, which is mostly yellow, was accented in black too extensively for my taste (like the scoops and on the rims -which are also yellow and black. The lister did not have any concrete history of the car, it's prior use or even service history, yet he asserted a mechanic confirmed the belts and the mechanicals were all good.

It just seemd that at over 20K, this was a cheap Ferrari, but not a bargain Ferrari for me.

Saw this Mondial up on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-FERRARI-MONDIAL-QUATTROVALVOLE-LOW-MILES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6737QQihZ002QQitemZ120185684249QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Wonder what it'll get up to? Says it's a Euro 1983 Mondial, with QV badging, but it looks to be a 2V engine. The car has been repainted poorly (see the crazing around the Cavallino on the front of the car, and around the Pininfarina badges?) The interior has been refinished poorly, and look at all the wiring under the front bonnet. Yikes, I hope whomever's bidding on this car knows what they're getting themselves into. As usual, I have no affiliation, yada, yada, yada...

A bit of an odd duck, I'll agree. Definitely a converted Euro with the front US side reflector but no rear side reflector and Euro rear valence and instruments. The engine has a 2v plenum but QV valve covers - so who knows? I'm not sure if the valve covers or plenums cross-fit.
Wonder what the key in the center panel does?

Funny, I didn't see that as a keyhole. I thought it was a burn mark in the center console from the cigarette lighter. Either way, that center console has had better days. It looks as if this Mondial is not going to meet reserve.

You don't need much knowledge to figure this one out. This is not a restoration or even a good car to consider [never mind the bumble bee scheme...he must have thought it was a Porsche at the time]. One photo attempts to show receipts/records and all it is are some spec sheets and the owners manual. Too many red flags on the surface...I don't think things will be much better down below.

This car appears to have been relisted, but THIS IS THE DEALER that had the hideous Black/Black "Darth Vader" GT4 I believe. They wanted $29K or something outrageous for that GT4, but if I recall, it was on consignment.

That looks like the 308 that was sitting near the self storage place where the kelmark kit cars were.

    Say what you will... :p

But  if I didn't already have my GT4, I'd definately be taking a serious look at this ;) very nice black Mondial Coupe.

I'm not suggesting someone buy this car w/o a proper inspection. But the only other issue to me at a glace is the Florida air. The moisture is very tough on Italian cars. If the engine bay was as detailed (in spite of what it may actually need) as the rest of this car, it would probably sell in a heartbeat.

This is a Euro car and it has service records from France. I don't know if this will pass emissions in California unless it was brought in and converted (which it doesn't appear it has as the speedo is still in kilometers as is the odometer, and it lacks the rear side marker lights.)
