well i never caught a 360ch , cause i never raced against one . and once i read goober was going to tassie , i knew it wouldn't take long for someone to pipe up . i don't think i said it ( can't wait to cop that statement back ) . i have felt the pain of not finishing an event , so the last i want to do is stir the pot for tassie . when you finish an event , you will always go to the next one thinking you can do better , this is when it can go pear shaped . all the panel gaps on my GT3 are perfect , and that's how i want to keep it .
I was referring to the Classic Adelaide - there were a couple of GT3's in Goober's category and the word around on Friday night was that one of them was quicker through stages than a 360CH. I have no idea if it is fact though.
At prologue I commented on Newton in the GT3 - "F*ck that's moving!", the guy next to me goes "Understatement of the year."
I only DNF'd on one of the six Targa Tasmania's that I competed in and that was due to mechanical failure. Ran in the top 10 a few times; but the top final placing was 13th outright. I had a few class wins along the way as well. FAR too dangerous and I was unlikely to do any better, so no more for this little black duck.

sorry , wires crossed from me . i ****ed up . can someone post a link with goobers times and his category ?
roger, both grant (other 360ch) and i were in category S, unlimited speed, timed but not officially recorded, and yep the 360ch is a track car, the 2007 spec GT3's are very fast, we dont get a look in with our suspension (metal on metal), plus we cant get off the line and give away generally about 3 seconds cos the 360ch is a rolling start car (scott please confirm this). Anyway we both did well, i was quicker in our section than grant and i was running 3rd in cat S, some tosser from sydney in a 996 Gt3 had service crew et al, caught him twice and he gave SIFI a serve cos of that fact.
Goober, I am pretty sure the Challenge series are rolling start, Ted has run 3 years of standing starts all with Ferrari F1, 1st yr 360C and the last 2 in a 360GT. Its hard to keep your grid spot and unlikely you will gain one and more likely you will loose one or 2 spots. So vs porker in a standing start you will mostly come out a little behind, as you have found out. Cheers Simon
Not surprised, having seen them *attempt* to drive at low speeds around city streets over the last couple years I can tell you they are complete buckets of sh*t below 50kph.
Most certainly not true! The yellow 996 GT3 Goober referred to above was caught on the quick Strath and Flaxley Long stages, the final stages of the day on Friday. There was a slight delay after the Strath stage, so I went up to the driver just to ask what they thought of the road, and to say the next stage was similar (in a non gloating kind of way) the nav said across the roof of the car "don't start....", while his service crew checked the tyre pressures etc, so I figured they were not too happy about being caught by Goober and the mightly F-car. Also whenever we were stopped at the end of the stage, I kept an eye on the mirror to see if anybody was close behind. There was never anybody even close to be seen before we started moving again.
Join the club. You wouldn't happen to have any more pics of the red 365 GT4 2+2 that was there. I think it was car 12. Do you know what class this car was competing in? Looks like Thoroughbred tour to me, with the helmets. I have checked the CA website, and there is no mention of their entry. However the car is advertised on carsales.
Um, having just re-read the original message, my reply was just in relation to Goober's car. Julian's white 997GT3 was a seriously quick car/driver/nav combo, so it would likely have been the quickest in the Cat S group, probably a toss up with the black Taplin GT3. But those cars were always either before us in the stages, or a couple of cars behind in the line-up. It would be nice to see all the times......
We ended up 25th outright in 1988 911 CS (car 708) not bad for standard spec car! and 4 spots better than last year.
these are all my pics of it http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/2356/3296687b.jpg http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/2356/3296687d.jpg http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/2356/3296687c.jpg http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/145746/3296471c.jpg http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/145746/3296475c.jpg
the event went off pretty well, the 360ch was a hoot to drive and simon was a great navigator, the pace notes were a must, next year we will have a pin point camera mounted on the roof with a mic inside the cabin through our helmets to hear me scream "watch out infidels the bug stomper is arriving". when i get the CD from the pic people i will post official shots, some are good, some are ok. next year the driver's name will again change from ILLYA KURIAKIN to tony montana or goober b. stomper filling out paper work for the rookie targa tassie now
