In your dreams, Pete ! :D More like 'Pipes sweeps past stationary Alfa T33/2 on the inside, to win by a convincing margin from Porsche'.

Hmmm, not always ;). Not sure what engine size these T33's were (ranged from 2 to maybe 4 litres I think) but at this race the T33's finished on the same lap as #0854 and the GT40's, and how many cc did they give away?. I do though question the data as the race distance of 72,000 km's surely cannot be right :D, I assume it means 72.000 km's.

One would EXPECT the Ferrari to beat the 2 liter cars :p

In 1968 I think the biggest Alfa T33 was 2.5 liters. The Alfa in question was a 2 liter..

    Bruno,

I found a small mistake on your excel file. D. Piper cames in second position at the Vila Real - Portugal race (2/7/1968), but it was not a 6 hours race...only next year (1969) D. Piper raced and woun the 6 hours of Vila Real on a Porsche 908.
Anyway that's an excellent work you have done.

    Nuno.

This is the start of that race, with Michael Grace D'Udy on pole, Piper on second position and Carlos Gaspar third.
    The final classification was:
    1 - D'Udy (lola T70)
    2 - D. Piper (Ferrari 412)
    3 - P. Hawkins (Ford GT 40)

Another slightly better one - taken a few seconds later, from a different viewpoint.
Apologies - I'm not sure who the original contributor was. You again, perhaps, Boudewijn ?

Monthléry, 1968. Not that particular shot, Boudewijn - thanks ! ;)

Getting away from #0854 for a moment - an interesting little bidding war just ended on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260183973690

I knew 3 of the other bidders - and we all lost out in the end. :(

A great little B&W photo of the late Lorenzo Bandini at the April '67 Le Mans Test Days in 0846:

Do you think Ebay is a good place to sell individual photos?

For the Seller, David - Yes. (However a lot can depend on how well the item is described - and hence found by the bidders' searches).
Though as this particular case proved, for impecunious P4 enthusiasts (like myself and Paul Creed), sometimes sadly disappointing.
You have to set yourself a sensible limit - and stick to it. Unfortunately there are always others with more 'buying power' it seems. :(

Slightly off topic, but of possible interest, I was rather more lucky on eBay a couple of weeks ago, and managed to win this little book, written by Ferrari team manager Franco Lini, in 1967, as a tribute to the late Lorenzo Bandini.

Unfortunately, the text is all in Italian ....

ETSY might be better, as only "handmade" or "antique" items are allowed, and the fees are MUCH lower. You can set up a "shop" on ETSY...

No, Stu. But I might just have to sweet-talk this pretty little Italian lady at my work, into translating it for me. ;)

    Check out their website: http://www.etsy.com/

A lot of "artsy-fartsy crafty" stuff, but there is also some interesting stuff on it...
