    tirerack.com has nothing in 275/45-17. Is this a classic size, or are they just out of stock?

    245's up front, 275's in the rears - and adjustable Konis.

    While we're still dailing in the Konis, the ride and grip is unbelievable! Not that I would have a frame of reference as I think I spend 11 minutes in it stock.

    Feels amazing having "step on a rock" brakes also.

    Although it will be a little bit until we have this perfectly dailed in - it's a gas to drive!! Ton's more fun than my 360.

    That would be 25.66" OD, or 1.1" smaller (-4%) than the stock tire. That's a little small. I'd like not to get smaller than 1%.

    Mark do you have a pic of how the car sits on its new wheels and shocks, also any info on the shocks, how they mount cost source etc.

    Buzz if you are going to drive the car in and out of nyc then stock ride height is probably a priority over performance.

    BTW took a serious run this weekend with some biker(not harleys) freinds, went up and down a few mountains, always reminded of that R&T photo of the boxer slid off the road backwards into the trees. Amongst other benefits modern rubber provides a good security insurance for less than perfect tecnique or surprises when driven hard.

    I'm just trying to preserve The Boxer Look. High profile, 26.7" OD is the target.

    Good day All,

    I have been watching this thread in interest, as I too wanted some new Rims for my BB and have been looking for some time. In my case, I wanted a rim that had the OEM look, but was larger, etc. Anyway, I came across a manufacturer in England (http://www.imagewheels.co.uk) that has a style that is similar (see pic). I asked if the rims could be made without the perimeter rivets (these make it look like F40 Rims) and they said no problem. For the rim sizes I was interested in, they quoted me the following:

    Billet 40 Style (without perimeter rivets and the centre cover)
    8x17 = 330 GBP each
    10x17 = 380 GBP each

    Subtotal: 1420 GBP + shipping which to Canada is 190 GBP
    Total: 1610 GBP with Delivery in 5 Weeks

    Also, they did say that this was the only style of Rim that would support the Centre Lock BB.

    Their contact info is on their website (http://www.imagewheels.co.uk) and the person I was speaking to was Harry.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Nice looking rim, put a spinner on it no rivets and it would be a great alternative for sure, thanks for the pics.

    I assume the center cover that is shown goes over a five bolt pattern. They make them with the spline drive center? Offset?
    Nice find- the price is in the acceptable range.

    Or go for that '80s look with the gold center....

    Have you identified a good option for rubber on a 10x17 rim that maintains period profile or even close? If so please do share!

    The image wheels really have me thinking, my TRX's may only get 2 more summers then they're worn out. Do I buy crappy old-stock 5 year old turds or do I get the image rims? My rims also have a few chips so they should be refinished at the same time. The image rim that Sam posted could be painted solid silver, minus the perimeter bolts they would look very stock. The price is right too. Maybe in the spring.

    I have spoken with image wheels. They say they have done quite a few boxers so have the offsets. The perimeter bolts holding the center to the rim can be mounted from the inside so there is avery close to stock look. Wheels can be in 16,17 or 18 in. I want to go 235 50 17 at the front which means I need to mount a 275/40 or 45 at the rear. Does anybody know whether a 275 tire will fit at the rear, currently I have 255's with no problem.

    Also anybody know the wheel weight of stock boxer wheels, or wheel tire combo weight.?

    I saw you had asked that in another thread, if I could help I would. Ill be breaking mine down soon to rotate the tires and I can weigh them at that time if you can wait.

    Also I have these Speedline type 17" wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires that I like to use from time to time. Just a little FYI they weigh 55.2lbs complete with tire,wheel, and spline. The feel of the car on the road is like night and day compared to OE Michelin TRX's.

    Here is a picture from Concorso Arizona where I had the wheels on. The tire sizes are front 245-45-17 and rear 255-45-17. I might throw them on the silver car this weekend.
