Louisiana State defensive coordinator Bo Pelini is apparently a leading candidate for the Nebraska job. Three sources close to the situation told the Journal Star that Pelini, the defensive coordinator at Nebraska in 2003, was contacted Saturday morning about the Husker job by a search firm -- Parker Executive Search, based out of Atlanta. Osborne said he expects to talk to "four or five" coaches about the job in upcoming days. LSU athletic director Skip Bertman said Saturday night he hadn't been contacted by Nebraska about Pelini. Though Pelini's popularity in Louisiana dropped some this week when his defense struggled in a 50-48 triple-overtime loss to Arkansas.

It's Daniel, not DanielS. Who are you, Ron Zook? :D IllinoiZe, hhahaha.

Btw, Sam has 32 passing TDs, not 23. A freshman NCAA record. :)

What I find interesting is the seeming lack of respect for Missouri from everybody it seems. Message boards are filled with comments from OU fans saying how they will beat Mizzou, Missouri sucks, blah, blah. But not much from the other side toward OU.

It is true this is the first time in a VERY long time that Missouri has had a great football team, but they do this year and everyone should ackowledge this, assuming they win Saturday.

If Missouri plays as well next week as they did last night, they stand a very good chance of beating Oklahoma. Not to mention that they have more to play for than Oklahoma.

Stats are for the uninformed. KU's defense is very stout, they just did not match up well against Mizzous size in the offensive skill positions. Pinkle has been known for his november collapses, but his staff really gameplanned KU well. The media barely paid attention to Chase until a couple of weeks ago. They have been slobbering on Tebows knob for a couple of years.

If the "SEC sucks", who is better?

    ACC? No.
    Big 10? No.
Big 12? Strong argument this year, but I'd rather play Oklahoma/ Mizzouri/Kansas than Georgia/ Florida/ LSU.
Big East? Please. The media tried to convince us that they were a power conference, but once again it's only Pat White left standing in the end.
    Pac 10? Nope.
    MAC/WAC/MtnW/C-USA/Sun Belt, all no.

I may be from an SEC school, but I'm a fan of the game before a fanatic of Alabama. Not many writers out there disagree that the SEC is the deepest, strongest league in the country. A 1-loss SEC team will get the nod every time over a 1-loss from any other conference, as was proven last year with Florida, who not only beat the consensus #1 but destroyed them.
Care to put up an argument to tell us who is better and why, BT? You could get another notch on your post count...

I see former UM player Sean Taylor was shot in his home in Miami any local word on motive or circumstances . It sounds bad he is in ICU from what I read.

Chill, he was joking. He knows the SEC dominates football and the real National Championship is the SEC Championship. :)

Frank - I'll be pulling for LSU against UT in the SEC Championship. Ainge and Foster will be their keys; stop them and the trophy goes to the West. Lucky that it's not Georgia though, they are playing hot.

I had mixed feelings. Our only hope was to play GA and beat them soundly to move back up but it would be a difficult task. TN should be less difficult but the way LSU is letting people score and Fulmer has already outcoached Les already so who knows like any SEC game it can go either way.

Glad YOU got the joke! LSU is tasting the sting of the BCS this year. 15 years ago they probably would still have a pretty good shot at a national championship.

I can't balme it on the BCS . Bottom line is LSU has played less than stellar ball since the Miss. State and VA Tech games. They playe dhorribly against Tulane in the first half and got ripped for a lot of yards by LA Tech. And this BS of Flynn needing a whole half to warm up is just that BS. If he can't get it done put Perrilloux in . So LSU has nobdy to blame but themselves.

Someone please explain the BCS BS.

    Mizzou is ranked #1
Oklahoma who beat them is ranked #9
Oklahoma is favored by 6 points.

the BCS rankings apparently mean nothing. Ohio State has an advantage because they don't have to play in a conference championship game. All teams don't play the same number of games even. Not fair. Wouldn't it be nice if all the conference champions had a chance to play for the national title?

Gentlemen: WE NEED A PLAYOFF SYSTEM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL

There is plenty of time in December to do this.

OU lost to Colorado and Texas Tech who both lost to Missouri. I dont agree with the playoff system, but I do think that an extra game after the bowls would be a good idea. Keep in mind that the majority of the players on these teams are students first. If you make them play that long you need to pay them.

The basic tenet is that you get extra revenue from a conference championship game, so there are $$$ incentives there. Also, if you have the same number of losses (at roughly the same time of year) the extra game can help your SOS and computer ranking to get you into the title game vs. a Big10 or Big east or Pac10 school that does not have a championship game. The BCS makes some strange championship matchups. in 2000 FSU got to play Oklahoma I think and Miami had the same record as FSU and had beaten them head to head, but we missed the championship opportunity by a few thousandths of a point. A playoff could be worked in with some of the bowls, and have somewhere between 12-16 teams eligible. Of course with that you would get complaints from the #17 team as to why they were left out... As much as I don't care for USC they got royally screwed being ranked #1 in both polls anfd not being in the BCS championship game a few years ago.

The BCS today isn't the same BCS from years ago. It's not perfect by any means, but it has improved. Sort of... At least it's adjusted over time.

    Today's coaching news:
Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike Sherman has been hired to be the next head coach at Texas A&M.
Georgia Tech fired head coach Chan Gailey.
Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower resigned.
LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini was interviewed for the Nebraska head job.

It is adjusted (almost every year) as you say. The adjustments are reactionary in general and they prevent the same scenario from repeating the (generally viewed) bad results. But the game keeps throwing new and unexpected twists each year. It is fine with me. I think it is better than the previous bowl situations. There will be occasional bad matchups, but I like the projected bowl games listed on www.cbssportsline.com . Anyone think we will see a 2 loss team play for the championship this year? That is, Mizzouri AND WVU both lose this weekend? If so, who gets to play tOSU: Oklahoma, or LSU, or USC, or VT?
