    Hello,

I have seen pictures of F430's with the lights (front & back) blacked out. How is this done? Tint fim, paint, other??? Where can this be done? Is the process reversible should I decide to put the car back to 'stock' prior to selling it in the future???

    Any help/info is appreciated!

    Thanks!

Also, if you have pics of blacked out lights on F430, please post them. Thanks! :)

Novitec lights are made with the black in the plastic, how I don't know, but doing it this way allows the lights to shine red when they are on.

What do you mean "smoked"??? That's what I'm trying to figure out..........on the rear lights, is it a film (like window tint) or some sort of process (paint?)??

3M would be a plastic film. I am sure these are a window tint material applied to the lights.

Maybe I'm a little slow, but those are certainly NOT shining red. Maybe Red Mist...

I could see that for the front, but for the rear - How do they 'tint' on round edges without creases in the tint material???

I remember the spider above from another post and the lights are only tinted on the back flat side and are not tinted on the outer round sides.

    Hi Fred.

I have the mold for the 360 taillights and am going to pull a set of smoked covers for myself soon. This way you put them over the stock red lenses and can take them off easy.

    No mess, no fuss

In the picture above, the sides of the tail lamps are not tinted, they are still red, therefore only the face of the tail lamp is blackened......it's a film.

What you might need is a complete new "smoked" (the actual plastic is blackened) tail lamp, like in the picture below. You can't do it yourself, you must buy it.

Craig, that sounds like a great idea.....sort of like a light-condom!! Extra protection!! I want a set for my CS, but I will also want a set for my F430. How about making them for the F430 too???

Just remember that you need the reflectors. A tint or cover replacement may be against the law.

Novitec now produces the black reflectors and third brake light, along with the side markers and rear taillights. All on sale until the end of the year.

I know of a few ways to get it done. I used lamin-x and it turned out good. It is a film that you put on the tail lights. it is thicker than a window tint. www.lamin-x.com
Nightshade is a popular product out right now. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=49605 I know its not ferrari related but it shows you everything you need to know. I think you can get it on ebay really cheap.
If you dont want to do it yourself, or you just want it to be perfect, check out http://www.jonstintedtails.com/bio.htm There is alot of pictures of work he has done. He can also color match your tail lights to the color of your car.
    I hope this helps alittle.

Their is two ways to blackout your lights. Paint (VHT) it comes in a spray can or film. I'm still debating to use the paint or film on my 360. That's my project after the holidays. The positive thing about the film you can peel it off when you decided to sell the car.I will post the pics when i'm done .
