Man you really are "single" focused. You and Jim should meet up and maybe if you are really lucky you might get a passenger ride ... just make sure you have a towel with you :D :D

edit:.........for 1954 or '55 - but it does for 1953 when the car was debuted in 2-litre form by Umberto Maglioli

Couple of nice photos of David Piper's P2/3 #0836 in almost exactly the same (early '67) configuration, taken on 'main street', Sebring.
Notice the Daytona 24 Hours scrutineering label still stuck inside the windshield. ;)

That's what I said. Interesting that the tail and nose were longer and lower on this car than on the 1954 2.5 litre version, it looks quite elegant from this angle.

That youtube is the Wills Trophy on 13th August 1968; the Porsche 910 is Vic Elford, David Hobbbs is in the red/white arrow Lola T70, and Denny Hulme won in the white sid Taylor-entered T70. Interesting that the orange Chevron still has the BOAC speedbird sticker from the BOAC 500 race.

You could well be right about 1968 (as opposed to 1967, which I had assumed), Paul.
Just seems strange to me that Pipes would be running his older P2/3 s/n 0836 (and an open car to boot), when he also owned 412P #0854 (still in berlinetta form) by then. (Edit: Possibly, because #0854 was in transit in Europe at the time.)

Interestingly, Barchetta.cc (which we know is frequently wrong) has this entry against 0836:

Damn! It is almost as if he is playing "follow-the-leader." Here guys, try this!

PS I used to do crap like this in the family Oldsmobile Vista Crusier after an ice storm. But it was in a parking lot at 20 mph. :)

Well, you still haven't gone off the deep ends as much as that guy in Canada (can't think of his name) that has something like 15,000 Maserati 250F photos...

Er, not quite so bad, Dr. Stu - just a tad over 12,000 .... and counting ! :D (Edit: Did a re-count - somehow I'd missed one folder.)

But, I hasten to add ....
.... that does encompass all images of P4 replicas, including builds; scans of magazine articles, besides photos of P3s / P4s and 412P's.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to my research to date - whether knowingly or not. :)

You've obviously not spoken to him on the phone. He can tell one P4 from the other by the stitching on the seats :)

Anyway - enough of this 'tittle tattle', Gentlemen .... back to the photos !! :D
Here's two slightly contrasting (in more ways than one) B&W photos of #0854 at Le Mans in '67.

The upper one, I purchased a few years back on eBay, from 'Gasnerie24' ....

.... and the lower one was kindly emailed me this afternoon, by Francis Muller ('GIOTTO'). :)

    C'est la même chose - n'est-ce pas ? ;)

Presumably both images are copyright Dominique Gasnerie Archives ©.
