Skip Bertman has asked Michigan to wait until after the SEC Championship to approach Les Miles. The leading candidates to replace Miles are :Spurrier, Jack Del Rio, Rich Rodrigues and Nick Saban. The problem with Saban is some people in the administration love what he did for the program but didn't like his attitude or how he dealt with them.
I've read Spurrier, Rodriguez, and Del Rio, but haven't heard a word about Saban, anywhere. I've looked. I wouldn't doubt he'd go, he built the program from nothing to a powerhouse, but I haven't read a whisper of it anywhere.
Of these three I like Spurrier the best although I think he is a short term solution given his age, but I don't want to be accused of age discrimination.
Why in the world would Rich want to leave WVU? He's about to play for a championship! Is it for the pay? He only interviewed at 'Bama to go back to WVU and have them match the offer. What a piece of crap. Same thing Weiss did to ND when the Saints gave him an offer. Btw, I don't see Jack Del Rio leaving the Jags unless the season tanks, which doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. Spurrier would be a good choice, but I rather him not. My Gators would have trouble going to the championship game if he has that talent pool.
The football in the Big Ten reminds me a lot of the NFC East, in which Spurrier was rather overwhelmed while serving as the Redskins coach. What made Spurrier such a demigod in college football was the rich talent-pool known as the state of Florida, and to a lesser degree an SEC that had seen better days in decades past. Man, I miss those fun 'n gun days!
Why is he a piece of crap for doing that ? They ALL do that; I would, and you would too, so don't EVEN try to deny it.
Well, they weren't nothing, but they hadn't been a team to fear since the 50s. Are you serious? I like to watch LSU, and I think LSU is a coach's dream atm. But for the better part of 50 years, there wasn't much to talk about.
Don't be so sure you know who my sources are. I said awhile back that Spurrier would be the leading candidate.
Didn't Alabama beat Miami for the championship in 1992? Seems like we suffer the old overconfidence syndrome in years that end in 2, and when we play in the desert.... BT
By Bennet's thinking.. Well there was that one year where they didn't suck but other than that. Kinda like LSU , ya know they had that Championship in 58 and03 and a few SEC titles but other than that they sucked for the last 50 years
I thought Jimbo Fisher was the coach in waiting? If he's not then I'd put him on the list for candidates to fill Les Miles' job
They weren't nothing but you did always kinda put half of a W there at the beginning of the season. Now you don't start to write even that half of a W
