I'm sorry Fran, but truth be told, for the last 50 years, if a team had to choose between playing Alabama and playing LSU, it would probably go about 40-Bama 10-LSU. Ask someone else who's a fan of a different team that hypothetical though, since I'm obviously biased.

I heard from one of my sources that Tuberville has all but signed to go to Arkansas. I can't imagine why he would want to leave Aubarn(well, I'm sure he still has a sour taste left in his mouth from when the powers that be tried to go behind his back and find someone to replace him). Maybe he has seen the writing on the recruiting wall :D
I wasn't sure Arkansas could afford him: $6 MIL buyout and making roughly $2.6M this year and $2.8M next.
If so, I have no idea who will replace him or Less. I've heard Jim Grobe as a great candidate for both, Spurrier is high on the list(for everyone until he's done lol) and Will Muschamp could try, but he doesn't have head coach experience.

Ha, dream on, oh Thug U. :)

Actually, I saw where Spurrier might be talking to Duke. Hot frigging damn. I'd pay for him to take the job. Imagine getting to kick his ass every year.

So you are saying he is retiring after this season??? Who is next in line then?
Spurrier to Duke would be good, although I doubt it would happen. Maybe Spurrier could go to FSU!

Man, you really are mean aren't you. :)

FSU has got to do sumthang cause Bobby can't recruit sitting in his living room. As you know, in college ball, it begins and ends with recruiting.

That is crazy, I would think he could get a better offer than Arkansas but if they want to pay the money, it's all about the Benjamins

I've now heard in a few places that Bo Pelini is the top choice for Nebraska. The Huskers (and the Big 12 for that matter) seem to really want to keep it in the family, and who can blame them after what happened with Callahan?

Pelini is the new Nebraska head coach. I am a bit surprised though, since he's never been a head coach anywhere. Buffalo coach Turner Gill would have been a great pick for the Nebraska job: a great Husker tailback that the fans love, and he has won games at BUFFALO.

ESPN is reporting that Less Miles has all but been delivered to Ann Arbor, and that the announcement will be next week. I'm sure losing Pelini helped the decision. Who will coach at LSU? Great gig, lots of talent, ferocious fans, and of all the schools named "Tigers," they're the only one who actually HAS a tiger(to my knowledge), Mike. I know, it's just a mascot, but that is pretty cool. I wish Alabama had an elephant, but that's probably a bigger nightmare than I can comprehend...imagine what it would do to the field!

The media is really giving the business to these schools looking for coaches and not going after minorities. IMHO, that's as racist as what they're implying, and hypocritical. It's ok to force someone to hire minorities? I think Sherman was the best fit at A&M, Nutt the best fit at Ole Miss, and Pelini is a great choice, although I would've gone with Turner Gill simply because of the head coaching experience. Why does it matter what their skin color is? To me, it doesn't, but to these minority committees and writers, it's like we're back in the slave trade. Ridiculous.
I'm all for a black/asian/indian/etc to be a head coach anywhere, but I'm against forcing a school's choice simply because they are black/asian/indian/etc.

The $6 million buy-out is supposedly being paid for by Wal-Mart.

Btw, I don't think he's leaving AU. It's one of the top 10 jobs in the nation imo, Arky is not.

    Alabama
    Auburn
    Florida
    Georgia
    LSU
    Michigan
    Ohio State
    Oklahoma
    Southern Cal
    Texas

Don't get too excited Bennett, this list is alphabetized. ;)

P.S. Tennessee, Miami, and FSU barely outside the top 10 imo.

Miami is nowhere near a top 10 coaching job. The pay is generally weak, and the fans are generally bad. A small private school generally cannot compete dollar wise with a larger publicly funded program (ND probably being the exception). I don't think the school really supports the football program. The coaches (except for Coker) have done well after coaching at Miami. I just hope people give Shannon several years to get us back into top form. He seems happy there to me, so as long as the school president or AD don't mess it up I think we will be fine.

I put it near the top 10 because of the talent in the area and the history of the program. Pay doesn't make or a break a job being a top one. If that were the case, Iowa would be a top job. It's not.

I should've added Nebraska and ND, lol. They suck nowadays anyway. Recruiting today is probably more important than anything else and both schools are in the middle of nowhere.

Thats strange. Notre Dame is ranked first in recruiting so far this year. Someone better tell those recruits they need to go farther south.

ND could have the #1 recruiting class in college football history for 4 years straight but with out a coach they are still in the middle of nowhere

First off, recruiting isn't nearly over yet. It's only December 1st. Wait until February when the rest of the top players start committing. UF is already moving up that list (#1 two years in a row) by the week.

Btw, ND had a top 5 recruiting class for the class of 2006 (now finished their sophomore season). Where are they now? Sucking ass. Notre Dame sucks and so does Charlie Weiss. There's nothing you can say to show otherwise.

ESPN & Kirk Herbstriet may indeed have egg on their faces. After claiming that Less Miles was certainly headed to Michigan, Miles released this statement http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3136536

"Coach Miles and the chancellor have already worked out a contract that they're happy with, but it hasn't been signed yet," AD Skip Bertman said. The way this year has gone, I'll believe it when he signs it.

I like his attitude though. He's kind of an ass(watch the video in the link for an example), which I think is much more productive in the coaching and recruiting world than the nice/funny/laid back approach. It's more like he will intimidate you by speaking forcefully at you before you have a chance to make your point.

But, the statement may just be something to calm the players down before the SEC Championship game. Either way, I won't believe it until the contract is signed, whomever gets/keeps him.

If he does stay in Baton Rouge, the Tiger fans who either hated him or have been sitting on the fence will surely bow down to him as their new king, and rightfully so if he pledges his loyalty to the Tigers over his alma mater, home state, and previously-noted dream job.

He didn't really answer the question (from the video I saw on ESPNHD). He only said he was the coach of LSU (this is true) and that he will be the coach at LSU (for how long? SEC CCG only?) :)

If true he will make more than the highest paid manager in professional baseball (Yankees).

Can somebody explain the economics of a college football coach making that kind of money to me?

Also, I don't know why Les Miles would want to leave a successful program at LSU and go to Michigan where there are too many American cars and no Bourbon St. Plus, the weather in Lansing stinks during football season. Also, the SEC has better football and better football fans. If Auburn can pay $4m for a coach surely LSU can match whatever Michigan would offer. I am confused.

Any help would be appreciated. ;)
