I especially like this comment in the description:

DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH OTHER AUCTIONS, WE HAVE REALISTIC PRICES ON OUR AUCTIONS AND MOST OTHER NO RESERVE AUCTIONS THE SELLER WILL END AUCTION EARLY IF THE PRICE DON'T BRING WHAT THEY THINK IT SHOULD, LEAVING YOU STRANDED AND CAR LESS AT THE LAST MINUTE TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER CAR.

And what if it don't :)

3538 TOTAL MILES! Hope all the seals, belts, tensioner bearings ...... window motors grease replaced... leather treated...

It would be nice to have a 'new' 308. Would the exhaust valves be suspect with such little use?

We all know this car has 3,000 original miles.
    an excellent fuse panel,
    a very dependable parking brake,
and a 12 speaker bose surround sound factory stereo system for those wonderful summer cruises.

Dr. Tommy, whats not to believe?

Havent we seen this car before? Not sure, because I dont remember the serial number, but a few months ago, I think we discussed a Red/Black 80 GTB that had around 2500 miles or something? Could this be the same car sold (traded?) to a different dealer?

I even remember the ignition trim ring not being there.

I think its funny that when a showroom quality 308 surfaces everyone cuts it up and doubts its quality. It just goes to show you that people are used to the fact that 308's are worn out turds for the most part so its hard to swallow that their might actually be a great one out there, actually better than the ones that most people here own! lol.

This car was for sale a couple of years ago. Same pics so it would have to be the same owner. Interestingly, the price was only $40,000 then. For some strange reason, it does not want to sell even at the lower price.

That's not the intent of the original post. I don't think a time capsule even approaches the buy it now price...it's just way off. My take on it is they think if they put a very high buy it now the offers will be better. They do have an offer option on the auction ;)

Not true, we all love our 308/328's.
If that was your car up there at that price, I doubt you would hear a negative comment. As your car far exceeds the car listed on e-bay
My car is the same year as the one list with 17K on the Clock, and is in the same or better condition than that one. ( I believe my OD to be very close to true after running through the car very thoughouly and even the cylinder walls still have light crosshatching pattern on the cylinders).

The problem is just so many 3x8's were mileage tampered, that it starts to become almost laughable when we hear of a super low mileage car.

Maybe Paul has a point, Are we just promoting hatred and hurting ourselves by never letting what has happened in the past go.
Politicians don't go out in public to tell potential voters that their (Brothers,Sisters, Mothers, Aunts, Uncles Etc. are Druggies,Drunks, Murderers, Thieves Etc. unless its a proven fact.

Let just stick to the proven facts.

And we should all go out and say sorry to your cars....lol

bingo! Look in the vintage section, look in the TR/boxer section or the supercar section, they dont devalue their own cars while at the same time patting themselves on the back!

I went to see this car several months ago. It still smells new inside. The guy who bought it found it and the Amelia Island Concours and didn't know it wasn't worth what he paid, plus he spent like 9k on a major and a synchro rebuid. The mechanic i go to did the work.

    It's really nice.

He's not gonna get anywhere near that price.

I was thinking the same thing - put a high Buy It Now and you may receive an offer that is higher than the "current value" of the car.

I also look at it this way: How many 1980 308's were there? X amount. How many of them are GTB's? A lot less. How many are red? Less. How many have less than 5K miles? Single digits? Or you could just say "How many 308's are all original and have less than 5K miles?" Probably double digits? Does anyone on F-Chat have a 308 with less than 10K miles?

There is probably someone out there that wants this car to win 1st in Class at every Concours, want's a conversation piece, or has enough money that they don't care about price...the problem may be in finding THAT person :)

I personally would not buy this car. But if I saw a 308 GTB QV Euro black at that price/miles/condition, I would be looking into it :D

Kinda funny, these deals....if it is priced v high, like this one, we beat it down with some critique, and if it is priced v low, like Chris's 76 glass car in N Cal, back in Feb, we also beat it down, I mean we beat his car down bad, so bad he got mad and jacked up the price!!! Guess its natural, to critique/beat down cars......Got nothing against it.

I have learned much by just observing and observing and.......
