What is relevant? I'm sure Wetpet will hit this one out of the park. Gotta stop pitching them right over the plate. :) I asked a while back for some electrical advice for my garage. I don't see that as too much different than asking any of the local guys for a motorcycle referal? At least the title of the thread was a good description of what he was looking for. My beef is with the people that start a thread with something generic like "Question ???". It's kinda like the junkmail where you have to open it up to find out it's junk. My vote would be give them the benefit of doubt unless/untill they are frequent offenders.

I would say questions related to the AREA, hence Mid Atlantic region----no problem asking for a garage contractor in the DC area----Some of the threads here get out of hand because the original poster gets pissy about a response. As the original poster ---remember you are posting this on a CAR forum, expect a little razzing and move on with any good info you did receive.

Example recently was the Motorcycle shop thread---the original posters was given a few good options, then got pissy about a response which escaladed the whole thread...

Some posters are famous for this and do it quite often, with no better excuse then to get a rise out of people. Those are the trolls that should move on to another forum...

I agree with 285 on this one. I think as long as it is related to something that others in the Mid Atlanitc region can help with or relate to, be it cars for sale, good contractors or anything else of the sort.

Welcome to the internet. Most convesations on the site sound trival to some but provide a social interaction between members that are looking for this type of support structure. I find most typing to each other with short quips could be better serviced by calling that friend and hearing what he or she is thinking, not what you think they said. Interpetation of typed words is very difficult and forever in space. Think about what Bill Clinton would of done using email with Monica BJ. There can never be an agreement to what will, or what will not be, allowed. That is up to the "Contoller". The site provides fantastic technical info as shown by my fellow TR member that redid his entire engine with documneted pictures. It was truly fantastic!! The people looking for someone to play with need the site for that purpose until they find another interest in life, like a good sexy woman! I would really like to see more stories and pictures from women. Maybe bring some good old hetrosexual experiences into the relm. I know I got a few stories that I could tell. You can have sex in a Ferrari!

I agree actually on points of both sides, but it seems to get out of hand with totally off the wall questions here..it would be nice to have the posting in the proper thread topic..

If you are attempting sex on the rear fenders of a TR you should put some fiberglass protection over them so they don't dent. That is what the service guys did at Shelton back in 1987 when we took ours there.

I think any reasonable conversation about whatever is running through the heads of the guys in the area is ok.

I've asked where to get the best crabs in Maryland. (After everyone got done say Robbie was the source of the MOST crabs, I got some good answers.)

I've asked what car to buy for a fun weekend driver.

I've even fund raised for Ronald McDonald house.

Geez, we've talked every possible topic except maybe hair transplants. (And that's a topic best left for another day.)

As long as the question or discussion is an honest one, and doesn't send off flares attracting ****** responses left and right, I think we should be able to talk about it in here.

Yeah, car stuff is great, but there are about 30 sub forums on here for straight up car talk. We should be able to talk on whatever topic strikes us in here.

(Now for my dumb ass moderator comment. AS LONG as it's within the general TOU and TOS here.)

If someone constantly posts inane bull****, then maybe they deserve to get blasted.

Why don't we set up two subforums under the Mid_Atlantic Region one? We could have our own "Other Off Topic" subforum and I vote for our own "Backroom Lounge".

The United Kingdom has 2 subforums, and New York Tri-State has their own Backroom Lounge, and so does Southern California.

If we had those 2 subforums, then only MAR Ferrari stuff should go in the main MAR forum. Everything else would go in our "Other Off Topic" subforum.

    Thoughts?

(Also, regarding having sex on the fenders of a TR - using protection is probably a good idea.)

If you look at the stuff getting posted in the "backroom" vs the main forum, it's pretty random.

I doubt, even with the best of intentions, that we'd keep the backroom stuff in the backroom.

I gave up trying to get the NY guys to put stuff where it belongs, now it's just two places to post stuff at random.

But, if you ask Rob, he'd probably give it a try.

    Dave,

What do you think of just adding the "Other Off Topic" subforum to our MAR section?

This forum is pretty low traffic already, I'm not sure the volume of posts justifies more boards. I'm with Robbie, if it is some related to the Area, it is relevant. My logic which I've been told is flawed, but I'm sticking to it, is that as a ferrari guy opinions from other ferrari guys (and gals) about any topic are more interesting to me than from non ferrari guys. I'd rather get my roofer recommendations from fchat than from some local roofing board :)

    Dunno,

Wonder what the guys here think?

I know Rob HATES adding subforums. He only does it when he thinks it will solve a particualr problem.

So, if you all start to behave like the NYTS guys did, maybe we can get a backroom or Other Off Topic forum. :D

We've gone from relevent to hair transplants and now Dave's sex life all we need now is a few of his ex girlfriends to comment. We don't need no sticking sub-groups, we can stay on topic just fine. What were we talking about...some sort of import cars or something? :)
