Who was the last driver you remember who smoked on a regular basis while they were in F1 ?
Jos Verstappen, smoking quite literally at the 1994 German GP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBPOqODqYB0
Salo, Brian ? Didn't know that one at all. Ron picked off Hunt (no surprise there..) , the only other one I can think of after Hunt is Sandro Nannini. There has to be more than that..(not counting driver's from the 50's and 60's , they all did..) .
A smoke's a smoke right? No really smoking a cigar is ALOT different than inhaling 20-40 cig's a day as cigar's are not ususally inhaled, well atleast from my experience.
yeah. from what i read in a mag back in 1999, he's smoking habit totally shocked the Ferrari team when he replaced MS for a few races.
Well, they certainly gave them out to the press back in the 80's. I don't smoke, but I came out of Detroit with a few cartons, ash trays, lighters, note pads, calendars, etc.
Anyone who worked with the John Player Special sponsored F1 teams back in 76. They did it just to meet the cigarette girls at the give-away booths. (my first F1 race, and the English girls in black and gold mini's are still a vivid memory)
Interesting that Frentzen was mentioned in this thread, because he was and still is a chain smoker. It drove Patrick Head crazy.
Good thing they were sponsored by Rothmans at the time. I remember a picture of him sitting under a tree with a Cig in one hand.
