That rookie Bourdais seems to have a basic understanding of his new ride...after getting thrown in the deep end. CH
Slick tyres made a long-anticipated return to Formula 1 as the final test of 2007 kicked off at Jerez on Tuesday and Nick Heidfeld and Jenson Button took advantage of their superior grip to top the times by a comfortable margin. Heidfeld posted a best time of 1m19.042s in his BMW Sauber, shading Buttons Honda by just over 0.1s. The Briton had set the morning benchmark as he was the first to try out the evaluation slick tyres Bridgestone has supplied for this weeks test. McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa was the fastest man on standard grooved tyres, some 0.66s adrift of Heidfeld. Kimi Raikkonen was fourth on his first day back in the Ferrari since he clinched the world championship at Interlagos in October.
I am glad to see Bourdais right up there - only two places behind and .552 behind the latest world champ. I hope for good things for Bourdais in his F1 racing. Good for Jenson also - I think with Ross on their team, they will definitely ones to watch. Carol
Where's Schumacher? I was under the impression that he was going to be back in the car testing this week.

+2,000,000 Bring back slicks, fat rear tires, wide tracks, and get rid of the aero appendages. Let's have proper-looking race cars again.
