Here's a thread from a photo forum about an adaptor that I bought that allows me to use vintage Voigtlander lenses on my Nikons (in case anybody is interested). http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1047189#post1047189
The good news is, I just got a Nikon D300. The bad news is, I haven't had any time to shoot a decent picture. Here's the side of a behemoth cruise ship (hey - this is the random daily picture thread afterall). The second photo is a 100% crop of the people in the center-right portion of the picture. Pretty awesome resolution. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey Mark how do you like it, do you use the live viewing ? What cam are did you more from ? I debated getting one for Christmas, but decided do go with new "glass" instead (which really does account for better pics then the body) instead. Fill us in on all the details !!
I believe that's the C123 that Eugene Hassenfuss was shot down in thus exposing the Iran Contra Affair.
So far, I love it. I've been sick so I haven't been able to use it as much as I would like yet, but from what I can tell, it's amazing. I am coming from a D70. The Live View seems useful for tripod shots where you want to absolutely nail the focus, but I don't think I'd use it much. Good to know it's there though if I want to use it. I think your decision to buy lenses instead of a new body is the right one to make. I bought my 70-200 2.8 VR a little over a year ago and that improved my photos much more than the D300 will. Things I like about the D300 so far: Great metering - seems to get it right every time Sharpness Color - everything pops, looks great Auto focus is very fast, and accurate as hell The 3" LCD screen is very helpful. The D70 has a 1.8" screen, so having the extra real estate helps High ISO shots - VERY useable. This is probably the most amazing part of the D300 for me. The 1600 ISO shots would be equivalent to about ISO 400 on the D70. No joke. Even ISO 3200 would be useable. This will make low-light shots much easier. I'd be happy to answer specific question. I know everyone wants to see some photos though, so I'll do what I can
Amen, i said Amen because i start just to do some pictures with the D80... great material, congrats! and good luck.
