http://www.blick.ch/sport/formel1/alonso-pause-bis-kimi-raeikkoenen-zuruecktritt-77823 Here we go again. The main news from the article: - Honda and RBR are off the table for Alonso - Toyota would agree to a one year deal and drop Trulli - Alonso has probably already signed with Ferrari and will take a sabbatical for 08 Roger Benoit speculates that Kimi wants to retire after 08, has told this to Ferrari and therefore Ferrari have already signed Alonso for 09.
...I dont really like the smell of this...and yes, Raikonnen is looking forward to quit, he doesnt seem to care about racing THAT MUCH...he´s got some other things in mind including party hard afterhours...beer, girls, beer...nothing wrong with that.
"Die Formel 1 ist Kimi auch nach 121 Rennen, 15 Siegen und 456 Punkten noch nicht ans Herz gewachsen. Mit dem Titel hat der eigenwillige Finne aus Wollerau SZ sein Lebensziel erreicht. Die Politik geht ihm am Hintern vorbei. Bei Ferrari fühlt er sich jetzt wohl, weil man ihm dort alle Freiheiten lässt. Aber Kimi, der 2001 bei Sauber startete, wollte «keine zehn Jahre» in diesem Sport bleiben, also " In short: Kimi is still not that much in love with F1. With the title he has reached his goal in life. When he started in 2001 he said that he had no intentions of staying on for 10 years.
if thats the case, no wonder fate didn't let be WDC back in 2003. he might have retired at that time!
...he is young enough to see there are some other things in life, he has tons of money, he has the allure of being the WDC...now he has everything he needs to do everything he wants-but without the inherent risk there is being a race driver- and not stand team principals giving him orders, or press conferences that he just hate, taking and commiting to practice calendars...the guy is a kid with a lot more in his head than "just" F1... I mean, he´s not Michael, for Mihael there is almost nothing else after racing...for Kimmi there is the wide world to go snowboarding, party...and beer!...again, NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT...so be it.
Happy Day!!!!.......I hope it's not just rumors!!! good for Kimi to want to leave on a high note, you will be missed......Goodbye
He is 28 yes?? At 30 whatta way to retire wish I could, seems like he drives for a job rather than the love of it unlike some of the other greats..IMO.
If true about Kimi, then it kind of makes sense why the Scuderia signed Massa until '09. Theorectically they have their driver line-up all set for the next two years. Of course, this is all speculation and none of us will know until then. Therefore, bring on the '08 season!!! Forza Ferrari
