http://www.spiegel.de/sport/formel1/0,1518,521879,00.html Quick sum up: "It may have been my last day in a F1 car", he's quoted. He says that he'd like to join a "promising project", but he doesn't need to drive F1 next year. Ralf finished 20th today in the Force India. I already thought he'd never realize his time is over...
he should retire like his brother did and enjoy his family. If he wants to play race driver he can always race at Le Mans.
Here's why: Team India 7 Christian Klien Force India F8-VII 1:20.187 + 0.816 86 9 Giancarlo Fisichella Force India F8-VII 1:20.470 + 1.099 102 19 V. Liuzzi Force India F1 01:21.194 76 16 Franck Montagny Force India F8-VII 1:21.559 + 2.517 65 20 R. Schumacher Force India F1 01:21.853 71
From what I understand Klein set this time on Slicks. Both Fisi used slicks and groved tires. Klein was a fraction faster than Fisi on the slicks while Fisi was a fraction faster on the Groved than Klein. Apparently both are fairly evenly matched.
Am I the only one who feels bad for Ralf? He seemed to be pretty competent back in the day. I keep thinking it's more that he's just incredibly unlucky rather than unskilled.
Why would you feel bad.....? He collected very hefty salaries during his time as an f1 driver, much more than he deserved to tell the truth. He should thank Willy Weber and his older brother for that. While he had some good drives and wins with Williams, Ralfie was inconsistent throughout his career. Ralf had his share of opportunities and IMO needs to make room for younger talent.
I don't know about Nascar, but it's interesting that no F1 driver really had success in DTM. Häkkinen, Frentzen, Alesi, neither of them did what you could expect from one of the 22 best driver's of the world, which they should be when racing in F1.
I can remember when Ralfy was coming up the lower Formula's, people were saying he will be quicker than his brother when he arrives to F1. Boy that didn't pan out. Time to retire!!
Sad to see Fisi and Ralf testing for the back marker team... ...but both of them failed to capitalize on the opportunities given to them. Should have just retired!
He soaked Toyota for Millions way past his expiration date. Then he fired his manager. Ralfus Maximus should send him a bottle of Champagne and a box of chocolates every day till one or the other is doing the Afterlife GP.
