McLaren's Ultimate Penalty: Four Week Notice

McLaren will not know until four (!) weeks prior to the start of the 2008 season if their new chassis is approved by the FIA. Of course this is due to the Ferrari/Stephney issue.

Fine me $100 million, take away my points, start me off for the season with negative points, pass my wife around for gang bangs with every Italian at the Scuderia (well, maybe not), but giving me only four weeks to change or make modifications prior to the season seems unfair even to me, and I find Ron Dennis to be an arrogant prick.

If RD only had retired before the 2nd hearing, none of this would have happened.

Mercedes should pay him out.

 

Really ridiculous, especially with the Renault verdict. But I think it's an empty threat, as they will never keep MCL/Hamilton out, imagine the drop of the viewing figures... just Max trying to frighten his old friend Dennis a bit.

Max Mosley on Friday confirmed suspicions that McLaren has reason to be worried about its next trip to the World Motor Sport Council.

The FIA body in Monaco ruled that, following an investigation into the legality of the team's 2008 car, another detailed hearing should be held in mid February.

Ferrari and other teams will be allowed to make representations about the FIA inspectors' report, that was tabled in the Monaco meeting on Friday.

"We would have very much liked to end this unfortunate chapter today, but another hearing is necessary," FIA President Mosley said in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport.

He added: "Believe me; if we fly 26 people from all around the world, then we have good reasons."

It is now strongly suspected that, based on the FIA inspections, the report found that McLaren's 2008 car cannot simply be given a clean bill of health in terms of whether Ferrari intellectual property has been used for its design.

Mosley says McLaren is already aware of the FIA's concerns.

"They were informed early on about our doubts," he said. "They will have had sufficient time to react should the doubt be confirmed.
"
He also rebuked suggestions that the FIA is guilty of double standards in continuing to pursue McLaren but letting Renault off the hook for a similar case of spying.

"McLaren was punished because they did not tell the truth on 26 July. It was stated that the information had flowed exclusively to Mike Coughlan.

"Renault admitted from the outset that the information was discussed among a wider circle of engineers," Mosley explained.

"I do not have a problem with Ron (Dennis)," he continued. "I just want to hear the truth if we have to solve an internal problem.

"During the World Council meeting on 26 July I have the impression that he did not tell us the truth."

 

i seriously hope not..i just wanna see real wheel to wheel racing.

 

Personal vendetta between Mosley and RD. F1 would be better off with both of them gone.

They more than likely found Ferrari technology on the McCheater car. The problem the way I see it is that McCheater keeps pushing the envelope. The rules of engagement when coaght red handed in the corporate world it to tell the TRUTH but Ron Dennis and his cronnies opt to take the other route and lie lie lie and lie some more. They are desperate and will pay the ultimate price for what the have done and continue to do. On the other hand Renault told the truth and its over.

They're very conservative in their approach and by being like that, don't tick off Mad Max, which really helps when in a pinch as yesterday.

Remember the mass damper story? They deliberately removed the dampers ahead of the FIA decision just to be on the safe side and not loosing any points.

 

Mosely says this action is being taken in light of a report or reports that have to be taken seriously. Makes one wonder what they have.

Perhaps Dennis the Menace is trying to get kicked out of F1 so he can start his own series. Incredible.

 

Thats another load of bolloxs he has uttered.. how can anyone in there right mind want this lying halfwit in charge of ruling F1, a sport I love .

Is there a real and based concern that something like that can be proven?
can they be STUPID ENOUGH to have a WORKING SYSTEM that might be traceable to a Ferrari stolen intellectual property?

...I dont really think they will do such...but in the light of facts nowdays...January will come soon enough

 

and that proved to be SO important Renaults pace was severely injured after removing those...but they won the WCC in the end, struggled a bit but they did it...guess what has won McLaren in teh Last 9 years. NIENTE

...maybe by now, Ron has done as much bad to the McLaren and Mercedes Brands, as he has done good...

Yes I agree. Please understand that some folks here will take issue with your opinion of RD. I made a light comment in relation to Renault and was told I live in a fantasy land for having an opinion that differs with them. Given the issue here and the lack of truth that the council feels exists, RD has no one to blame but himself. He is doing a good job of ruining his own team. If he only knew the truth would set him free

 

What have you been smoking? Renault did things by the book? They got the info in September 2006 but didn't inform the FIA until September 2007! That's only because a former Renault employee (much like the copy boy in Stepney-gate) tipped off McLaren.

If that tip off had never occurred I'm sure Renault would never have approached the FIA, after all they hadn't for a full year. Don't think by any means that Renault got off fairly. They didn't. From reading the transcript I find it incredibly egregious that they did not suffer the same penalty as McLaren. I could go on if you’d like me to.

This just goes to prove Max has it out for Ron; there is no real justice in F1 with the exception of Kimi winning the WDC this year.

 

Remember when the Stepneygate scandal first broke, Dennis was telling everyone how much integrity he and the team possess. Turns out you can't trust anything he says.

Renault came forward to the FIA as soon as they found out about the info being in Renaults PCs, then the FIA sent an Officer to pic the floppy, then McLaren was invited over the Renault headquarters and McLaren pesonel performed the erasing and scanning of all the info, then Renault Fired (not sure yet) the responsible and found all the other implicates, made them sign a letter saying what they saw, and that they havent used this for any Renault design...

much unlike the McCheater team.......But if Renault did gain an advantage then alonsholes' WDC#2 means squat sort of like his first one with the tire rule. Acually this makes me think that alonshole is not as good as everyone thinks he is.

 

Even if they did gain an advantage from the McLaren information (which the FIA denies they did), McLaren wasn't their competition in 2006, but Ferrari.

And btw: The first title might not mean much to you but to the rest of the world. They won it fair and square. It wasn't Renault's fault that Bridgestone couldn't build a lasting and fast tire. Besides: Ferrari could have switched to Michelin for 06. They won several championships in the previous years with the help of Bridgestone, this time it was their achilles heel. The sword cuts both ways.
