Does anyone know of any NON-FERRARI sources for Lobro cv joint / driveshaft parts here in the US?

    Thanks.

Did Ferrari really use the *same* Lobro 108MM CV Joint for all DINO/308/328/348/365/BB and TR's?!

    David,

NICE! Do you have the CV boot part number too?

we need to stick these #'s in the 348 part interchange thread

If...you have the OE flange on your above listed CV joint, then the Porsche 90133229312 boot will do the trick. If the flange has been change in the past, you may be on your own. I've used this boot for 20+ years now, with only an occassional fitment problem.

If I recall correctly, Ferrari used Porsche flanges for their CV joints...hence the above listed boot will work. However, some (Mickey Mouse) shops had replaced the (needlessly damaged) flange with a BMW 6 type....and the boots were different. (The CV joint listed above fits most 911, 930 and some of the early 5 or 6 series BMWs.)

And...for the racer types, there is also a "light-weight" version of the Lobro joint, though I do not have the part number at my fingertips.

    Regards,
    David

GKN Driveline sell these in UK & Europe, but they're not very easy to deal with.
    365GT 2+2, GT4 2+2, GTB, GTC, 400, 412 also use the same

246tasman, you are correct. GKN is a big international corp. that probably doesn't want to deal with orders less that 1000 (or maybe 10.000) units.

Some of the machinery that we use at work is made in Germany and uses a lobro CV joint on a drive shaft. Our manager thought it was exotic hardware and judging by the replacement cost from the equipment manufacturer, it was. I identified it as a typical Audi/VW CV joint and got a cheap replacement locally. They are widely used in the industrial field as well. A look in in the GKN catalog shows all the different sizes (diameter, thickness, bolt pattern, boot style, etc.) available. Each car manufacturer uses the combination that meets their application requirements.

Ferrari CV joints are not exotic or special, available at most good foreign car parts houses by cross reference to Porsche or at a industrial powertrain supply house by dimensions.

Yup. I use that one on my Bora and also with some slight changes on my Espada as well. BMW 5&6 series boot kits from the early to mid 80's fit just fine it it's the standard flange.
The Bora and Espada use 4 bolts and 2 roll pins to secure things but this one works either way.

    John,

The answer is more than likely, yes. As you may know, Ferrai does not list the CV as a replacement part. Ferrari only offers the complete axle assembly, which, as expected, is very expensive. Hence, it's not a simple parts look-up.

However, in the the TR and the BB use the same differential output flange...and these CV joints have been used since the 246 Dino, so the likelyhood of it being different are very slim.

    Regards,
    David
