in the silver area we have a thread going about guns http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177351 i was thinking us ca gun guys can get together for a shoot day. maybe bring some of your guns and we can all bs and talk cars and guns, and you may get to shoot some cool guns! so how many people would be wanting to do this?
so 3 people in... ok i know thats not all the ca gun people! tim, 50 BMG is the best! i love that sound!
Just for the record: Oak Tree has changed their days of operation. They are now only open Wed and Sat to the general public. The rest of the week is law enforcement only. It also has no place for a long-gun. Only shotguns (1-round loaded in the weapon at a time, even for a pump) and pistols. And the ranges are pretty short. Just MHO though.... I went to another place in Sun Valley once. It was also small. But the handgun range was a little larger. The best is public land somewhere in the desert, if anyone knows of a good spot. I once went somewhere just off 247 North of Apple Valley. But that was 15 years ago. Could be a neighborhood or a daycare center there now though. Who knows?
dad is a member of this gun range, for the life of me i cant recall name of it right now... but its a big place and long as he is a member we can being people with us to use the range. they have lots of lil areas for small groups to shoot in their own group so thats what i was thinking of doing.
There's a place in Santa Clarita called A Place To Shoot. It's an outdoor range, and has a couple handgun areas, clay shooting, and a rifle section. It's like $10 all day. It's in the sticks, and is off of a dirt road, so no nice cars.
Been there many times.... I used to pass it on the way up in to Little Tujunga Canyon, way up there beyond that animal preserve. Those were the days.
ok guys. i talked to dad and he loves the idea. we can go to the range at west end gun club (see link below). they have small areas for a group to shoot in (pic attached), that way we can bring sodas and bs and not be part of the main range. they have a long range for the 50cal people! Range Location - http://www.wegc.org/rangeloc.shtml if this sounds good to you PLEASE pm me with what guns you can bring (so i know how big of range spot to look for) and days you can go ( i.e during week what times and times free on weekend) Image Unavailable, Please Login
well don't go back LOL. if your a REAL gun person and not a redneck with a bang bang don't go their! we went and it was out of control people shooting your target from 6 SPOTS DOWN and no one uses or knows gun safety! its not good at all. just my 2 cents
If its a go I can bring a semi-automatic AR-15, AK, HK "MP5", and custom 1911(s). BTW: My understanding is that "assualt" weapons can no longer be taken to the "desert."
Last time I was at Oaktree you could load up clips just fine on the pistol range and plink like a shooting gallery at the metal targets and run the speed station on the far end no problem. They have trap ans skeet open and trap is 1 round as it is everywhere but skeet is 2 chambered rounds as it is an over and under game like everywhere else. Moore and moore by the hansen dam off osborn has the best sproting clays range and a rifel range that i have never been to right next to it.
best range is the west end.. its a members thing for 180 a year but when we get this thing together you will see how good it is
There was 1 hour east of SD a piece of forest land open to shooting (Kitchen Creek). We used to go during the week and have fun. Made the mistake once of going Sat. Wow, bumper to bumper, people keep shooting several cars down while you changed targets (even though you asked them to stop!), people who barely knew which end to point downrange. Surprised no one got shot, or maybe someone was since they closed it down years ago. Although I heard it was litter and some new houses going up nearby.
