I like the thread about 0850 but want to know more about 0848. So here is the start of the new thread. Does anybody have some 21th century pictures of 0848 to begin with?

    Not me, Wouter. :(

I'm not actually sure that the car has ever been shown in public, since it passed into Giorgio Perfetti's collection in 1990.

If you want to see pictures of it, get hold of a copy of this book:

Ferrari P3/412P by Christian Huet (Cavalleria series #11)
    ISBN 3-905268-08-6. Published 1995 by Cavalleria S.A..

109 pages. Slipcased. Italian / English / French text. Includes development; Race history and records / technical specifications by chassis number. Many good quality B&W and colour period photos and 28 pages of colour photos of the Scuderia Filipinetti 412P, chassis #0848. Originally priced at £55.00, the Cavalleria series was being offered by Mill House books at £39.99.

Although not actually dedicated to the P4, this probably remains the best value all-round book on the subject. Only let down by a weak spine binding and the number of 2” square photos on the text pages, which could have looked so much better blown up !

(The above is from my 'P4 biliography').

    Thanks Paul,

I know this book and I know the pictures in it.

The Mugello 1967 pictures from Boudewijn are great! Thanks for posting!

Interesting and beautifull photos, Boudewijn... Thank you for sharing them.
I found this one in an old newspaper. #0848 just after she was delivered to the Mas-Du-Clos collection in France. I don't know if this is really true, but Georges Filipinetti offered the car as a gift to Pierre Bardinon. #0848 is now in the collection of Giorgio Perfetti.

Founded by their father Ambrogio and Uncle Egidio Perfetti in 1946 in a small town near Milan, the company was the first to introduce chewing gum to Italians. Their Brooklyn brand is still one of the most popular in Italy. (The gum was named after American soldiers who chewed gum in Italy during World War II.) In 2001, Perfetti paid more than $900 million for Van Melle, the Dutch owner of Mentos, Fruittella and Airheads. Since then, company has been run by chief executive Ubaldo Traldi."

Wouter. When I made this statement:
.... I wasn't 100% sure of my facts. This evening, during a phone call, I asked Marcel Massini if it was true .... Marcel confirmed it was. Marcel said he may have a couple of recent-ish photos of the car, but as stated elsewhere, he's very busy at the moment, and doesn't have time to dig them out and post them, at present. Maybe next year.

So - it's back to 'More Old Photos' of #0848.
I make no apologies for re-posting this superb low-level B&W photo of #0848 taken by Maurice Rowe on the '67 Targa Florio.

It's already been discussed (ad nauseum) here (in the 'More Old Photos) thread:

http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89883&page=145 (and for the next couple of pages !)

    A very familiar image:
(taken from Antoine Prunet's book: Ferrari - Sports Racing and Prototype Competition Cars) of #0848 in the paddock at Le Mans, 1967.

Note the Campagnolo 5-spoke wheels fitted, with light metallic blue painted outer rims. ;)

Francis Muller (a.k.a. 'GIOTTO') recently kindly emailed me these two photos of #0848 undergoing 'scrutineering' at Le Mans in 1967.

The B&W one seems 'straight-forward' (pun) enough.

Check out the light-blue painted 'P3' wheels fitted to 0848 in the lower colour photo, though.

I replied, to 'correct' Boudewijn in a post at the top of the next page:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21557&page=3

I stand by what I said before, about the photo of the N.A.R.T. #25 412P (#0844) having been taken at the Le Mans Test Days in April.

    No doubt about that. ;)

The photo of #0848, fitted with the light blue 'P3' Dunlop wheels - however, now I'm not quite so sure, having seen Francis's photo.

In deference to my post, Boudewijn replied:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=67335760&postcount=42
.... posting this photo, showing #0848 (amongst other factory and customer cars) being delivered to Le Mans, on the transporter .... apparently already fitted with the Campagnolo 5-spoke wheels - per the paddock photo of #0848 in post #13.

So why my own self-doubts, all of a sudden ??

Well, there is a slight 'minor detail' that we both overlooked, in our haste to 'correct' those photo captions of #0848 at Le Mans ....

.... and that is, that a certain other car - 0846 was carrying the N° 22 at the Le Mans Test Days in April !!

Great photo of the guys weighing the car, with the guy in the brown suit engrossed in reading the weight, and the mechanic at the back of the car leaning on the spoiler!!!

So much for the official scruitneering weight!!

On both photos, the second man from left is one of the pilots: Herbert Müller. Isn't that a camera in his right hand on the b&w photo? But where is the film?

    Nice one, Boudewijn ! :)

Per my last posts on the previous page, and the ALL gold-painted front wheels on #0848 in your photo ....
.... it would seem like Scuderia Filipinetti must have swapped a good few pairs of wheels that weekend !
