    I am a newbee to FerrariChat.com.

I am looking to buy a 1993 Ferrari Mondial with a Valeo transmission.

I love the car, but I have been told Mondials have alot of problems, especially electrical.

I would appreiciate any comments, both pro and con, on this model especially with a Valeo transmission.

Thanks for your help in advance.

P.S. A couple of belt replacement questions:

Replace at the early of 15,000 miles or how many years?

If a replacement (miles or date) cannot be determined, can you determine the the condition of the belt by visual inspection?

Don't believe everything you hear :)

contact our dear friend Hank Sound regarding his Valeo. He has been very happy with the car.

Of course, as long as the car has been well maintained ( www.EugeniosFerrariService.com :) ) you should have no worries.
I believe there were only 44 Valeo models made, don't quote me on that.

    Hi,

You say that you love this car. I'm going to assume that you've factored into this feeling, your personal life style requirements and such.

My Rachel (the car) reached out for me - as much as I lusted for her -- so I pulled the trigger!! The technology built into these Valeo Mondials fascinated me. Three years later, she still amazes me!

Why goofy gremlins exist in a car that costs well over $100k when new, yet an old Honda keeps on chugging along with 200,00 miles on the clock, yes it's - - "goofy". That said, it's a Ferrari. Enzo had gremlins in his head as well as in his cars. But, oh baby, turn the key - listen to that Italian opera behind your head!!! Hey, I had gremlins. They just had to be addressed---gremlins no mas - electrical or otherwise.

Timing belt (one) and tensioner bearings, water pump and clutch, ECU's and O2 sensors-----------records should exist that give you an idea where you stand as regards these issues. All these stallions should be subject to an in depth investigation of prior service that gives dates and the car's mileage when service was done. If there is a question about timing, just do it.

Read all of EUGENIO'S homepage regarding FAQ's and his (highly) professional responses.

There are 1017 Mondial t's and only 44 or so Valeo equipped models out of that number. Oh BTW, the president of Fiat had a special Valeo equipped F40 built because his left leg was compromised in a car (racing?) accident!!!

Good luck in your research.............Valeo throws the clutch in under 100 ms. Can you throw a shift that fast?:)

    Cheers, Hank
