I think there is a huge difference in the sense of History and Heritage between the US and Europe...... Here, we tear down hundred year old buildings and trees for the new CVS drug store, that goes out of business six months later.
American like Australia does not have history like Europe and England does. There are buildings in England that are many thousands of years old ... Thus it is only natural that we think differently about history. Pete
Hi David Generally speaking I think this is true. There are a few Americans who are interested in the European races, just as there are few Europeans interested in Indy 500 history. e.g I (and many others here) can talk all day about V-12 s but I know precious little about the Indy Offy. So I buy racing photos but not Indy/Champ car etc. It may be something to do with where one lives, who the racers were, even which make of cars were racing? Nathan
Grrr, i was oubid for rodriguez 917 then for the penske grand sport corvette...will any other soon be for sale ???
I just found this video on dailymotion. Some of you might appreciate (hope it's not a repost). http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/reims+1956/video/x2nod8_formula-1-1956-reims_auto
Again Boudewijn, your photos are really beautifull. Thanks for sharing... If you have more like this one, DON'T RESIST...! Here is another one of the same car (#4453SA), but before the Le Mans race in 1963. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The interesting thing about a black & white photo is the car can be any color you want it to be. I've always had a fascination with the LMB; would love to drive one.
For those of you who care, 1/43rd scale limited edition handbuilt models of both versions of this car were offered recently. I have the Bridgehampton car, actual photos of which were previously shown on this thread by David. Gil
Not as clear as the photo Boudewijn posted (a beautiful picture) but one of the car inaction at Bridgehampton. Looks like the Hangsen car did not do as well? David Image Unavailable, Please Login

Looks like Alberto Pedretti checking tire pressures in the last photo. Is 0810 one of the cars Coco Chinetti is rebuilding? Great photos.
No, Steve, I never owned a 330LMB either, but I had the pleasure of being in the middle of a deal when Charlie Hayes sold 4619 to the infamous Don Fong, and I got to drive it home to my storage garage in LA, from Orange County. This was back in the day when it was just another used Ferrari, although even then we all recognized that it was something special. And to this day I remember it as one of the sweetest driving cars of all that I have been in. Very powerful, very fast, sweet smooth engine, great handling, AND it had carpets! Altogether, truly the best all-round car I had driven--like a GTO but more quiet and more powerful (and, argueably, even prettier). I wish I had the words (and the memory!) to describe it adequately, but you get the idea.
I don't think any of the 330LMB's was silver. There was the Lusso chassis 4385 that had a 330LMB'ish front end that was a very light metallic blue that looked silver in pictures. Its now back to red and there have been some threads about it on here. But I don't think any 330LMB was ever in silver. Pipers rebodied GTO (sometimes referred to as the 250LMB) might have been green but I think they all stayed red.
