Terrible choice of car. And what's up with the spoiler? F&F? The new 'stangs look like tanks.

Should have stuck to a GM. The new Z06 would be PERFECT! I'd rather see the GTO as well.

The car alone is going to make this movie suck.

Definitely cool!!! But still not as cool as any James Bond Aston-Martin.

 

What a joke, they think they can take something as cool as nighrider and throw a completely different type of car in it? Really anything would have been better then the Rustang.

A new Z06 would have worked perfect.

 

Gee, what's next?? A Smokey and the Bandit version with that car???

I original Kitt was based on a tacky 80's POS. You couldn't do any worse.

 

Where is the horizontal light? I'd rather the original car.

Definitely the wrong choice for this role... and the double spoiler just adds to the gag-and-vomit-in-my-mouth-a-little factor.

 

They should have waited on the new Trans Am.

If I remember correctly, the original Trans Am that KITT was based on had the coefficient of drag of any production car at that time. Those cars also handled like they were on rails when equipped with the WS6 suspension.

Years ago, I had two lucky friends. One had an 84 Trans Am with the WS6. The other had an 84 RX7 GSL-SE. Both were nice cars, but the Trans Am was so much more fun, plenty of torque for a mid 80s car.

 

Well, looks like I'm in the minority here but I like the car. The "hero" version looks very cool IMO. OP's pic is the "attack" version. I think ultimately what will make or break the series are the actors, plot and NBC's ability to effectively market the show. IIRC, the last time NBC tried a series featuring a car as the star was Viper in 1993/4. They canceled the show after a few episodes, but it was revived by Paramount where it aired for 4-5 years (last 1999). We'll see how much support they'll give a car show this time around.

Still isn't the same. The Rustang is just too boxy and bulky and HUUUUUGGE to play Kitt. Kitt needs to at least be more slender and not stand as tall as the Rustang.

That new Firebird concept pic looks like a bad cross breading between an RX8 (back end), Mustand (top) and Sunfire (front half).....kinda fugly if you ask me.

 

Most of the cars are actually turning out to be normal GTs, because the cast can't drive manuals...
