Johnson drew Michael as his rival in the Race Of Champion's Nations Cup. Johnson has not shown the same road course ability as his teammate Jeff Gordan, so depending on the event this will likely be a one sided competition.

Why is it Schumacher and not Kimi? I thought it was '07 champions? Guess I'm wrong.

Good question, I think drivers have to volunteer for this, maybe Kimi was doing the Finlandia Vodka Tasting Championship that takes place the same weekend??

I was sorry to see that Sebastian Loeb is not there this year too !!! But more then happy that Schumi is competing !!! In fact iam kinda surprised that the organisers never got Lewis Hamiton to race, since this is the 1st time its been held in the UK.....

I'm sure Michael is anxious to get back on the grid. I will definitely make sure to watch the action. I remember a few years ago when Kovi won over Michael at the ROC and some thought he was going to be some F1 ace, hasn't quite worked out like that eh? It's one thing to compare to or even beat Micahel at the ROC, but on his own turf is a different story.

Schumacher is going to end up driving the doors off of JJ and showing him that NASCAR ability doesn't equate to driving ability. I can't wait.

I think he might have a chance in a McLaren. At least he should get a win this year.

Not a fair comparison, dontcha think ?

It's a 'given' that it's easier for a road racer to get up to speed in a stock car on an oval, and harder for a stock car driver to get up to speed on a road course.

Apples and oranges, both are great in their respective types of motorsports.

Not since Jeff Gordon managed to beat Loeb in a rallye car at a previous Nations' Cup event.

And since JPM went to NAScircle, I think the europeans aren't as likely to write off oval racers.

People seem to forget that most of the NASCAR driver's spent the 1st half of their racing career's sideway's. Anyway it should be very interesting, go Mikey!!

I know I will as it will be the first full coverage of an ROC event for me. In year's past I have seen bit's and piece's and was bummed out I either missed the full coverage of it was not aired by SPEED. I think SPEED has taken note of the email's and petition's they have recieved complaining of 95% NASCAR coverage, good for them.

I think speed's coverage will be condensed. I watched the Nation's Cup live off the web (streaming video via eurosport.yahoo) this morning, and that by itself was an hour and a half. I thought (from a mention here, somewhere) that the ROC would be at 2pm, so I just went back to see that, but it's already over. So I'll be watching Speed on the 30th, too.

The year after Jeff Gordon and team won the NC, the first round pitted the US against a "euro" team of ringers. Looks like they brought out Schumi to take out the oval trackers early in the game again. (Maybe that's why it was Schumi instead of Kimi.) ;)

(I like the comment about ".. yeah, but he's retired." :D)

Interesting assortment of racing machines, too.

Per-heat results are available at http://www.raceofchampions.com/
(But they don't exactly show who was bouncing off the walls, and who was stalling at the start line. ;))

But I'm saying overall, it's easier for the lot of road racers to do better on an oval than a lot of circle trackers to do well on road courses.
There are obvious individual exceptions, but I'm saying overall.
