Hey Guys, How many of you go to the track on a regular basis? How Many days a year would you do? If so, which track and is it with a club or a business? And how much do you normally pay?? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
you're a dainty 5 or 6 aren't you Giovanni ? you formula jockeys are so lucky, I had to pass on a formula car the other day because I was too big (read fat ) btw trackdays is a huge topic which varies from state to state and track to track for costs, I think hiring PI for the day is $10k while a Saturday timed laps at QR for a club event is $90, EC was circa $3-400 last I heard ...and of course all our cars are garage queens, we never take them near a track
No Garage Queen here!!!!! I do a track day every 2-3 months and what a great day. Sensational and absolutley exhilirating.
I'll be doing track days once my car is ready. Being restored/rebuilt to race including cage. Love track days did them with HSV club. Cost me $110 for the day. Thats at Sandown, Winton and Phillip Island. Another option for you to consider is a John Bowe drive day. They are reasonably priced and very educational. Would strongly recommend if you are just starting out.
how many have you done ? plenty of guys here take there cars to the track and put up respectable times , except Horse his times are great bastard
you are missing out on a pretty special track week-end at the moment . pencil it in your diary for next year now.
What do you need to qualify to have a go up at Bathurst?? Would my old 308 qualify after being rebuilt??? It will have a CAMS accredited cage etc.
CAMS level 2 license which can be bought , no test needed , no rollcage need , just the basics like a normal club day ( 2nd bonnet strap , blue triangle for battery location , front and rear tow eyes etc ) all easily got . i wouldn't do bathurst without a cage , get it wrong through the chase , goodnight irene . how many ferraris.....0 , how many porsches......heaps
Thanks Scud. Enjoy. Here I am typing letters into a PC and you've just been around Bathurst. So is it really challenging?? I Know silly question. I walked it a few times when I went up for V8's. You don't realise the climb and fall rate. How hard is it going down through the cutting??? F*** I'm jealous. Enjoy, hopefully I'll be there next year.
this sums it up perfectly , many places it can all go pear shaped. http://scs.une.edu.au/StudentFiles/HomePages/174_96/Bathurst/TheTrack.html
I meant the dipper sorry. That must be hard. You'd have to carry them in a bucket I reckon to trump that section.
Ok that is expensive but hey, this is Bathurst. THE TRACK. Seriously we all dream of doing it one day and if the only barrier is a few grand, well I'm in. Scud is having a ball at this very time probably living a dream we've all had over the years . I can't wait to be there myself. Roll on December 2008.
I have done probably.......400 laps of Baskerville in Tassie. Never once around Symmons though....yet! Plus many other misc. events. Then again I don't have to worry about binning something that is worth $100,000's
