I recognize just briggs Cunningham in the middle with the brown leather jacket...

 

I thought that too, but 0798 lacks the vent (at least it does today, perhaps it was just restored differently) above the hood. I couldn't find any period shots of 0798 that showed this area. Anyone have one?

thankyou,got soft spot for them,due to the Bob Jane car that ran in Australia fron new,I've got a '62 roadster i run on injection,with mant light weight mods.i come a terriable time from my fellow Australian Ferrarichat line mates,oh well i prefer driving her tom my BB512 on carbs.

Note also the different noses on #0798. This b&w photo is from Le mans in 1962. Pilots were Ludovico SCARFIOTTI and Giancarlo BAGHETTI.

Why didn't Ferrari have cars 1 & 2 in 1980 as a result of Scheckter's World Championship the previous year?

racingsportscars.com names the GTO in the picture below as 3387GT driven by mike gammino. i think that´s wrong. the pic looks more like 3705 GT, but did 3705 GT race at bridgehampton 1963 ? i dont think so, as the car was mainly raced in europe in 1963. could anybody clear this up ?

No, GTO n°23 is really #3387GT.
But the GTO n°30 in post 3191 is not 3387GT but #3223GT.
