My brother and myself are big F1 fans. I thought it might be kinda cool to get F1 tickets as a gift. We both enjoy traveling and I honestly don't care what F1 race we went to. We live in Boston. I was thinking perhaps something like Monaco? Or maybe Brazil? I would rule out any races that were 20 hours of flying away, just because of logistics. I have no problem with any of the European or American races. I know Canada seems the obvious one but it may even be more fun to go somewhere further afield. Japan, China, Bahrain, India, Singapore are all definitely out. So... what is a good place to buy ticket (and compare prices of different seats and different tracks) and what would someone recommend for a race to go to? I'd think Monaco but I imagine its uber-expensive and I was planning to keep costs down as this isn't a "once in a lifetime" thing or anything.
I guess you should decide what you prefer - the atmoshpere or the races itself. If you rather like everything around, I guess it's best to go to Monaco, but with some of the 'old' tracks, you won't see much overtaking there. I'd prefer the newer, for example Tilke designed tracks... yes, shame over me, but there is at least some racing and action, the result isn't determined by the starting order. You might want to go to the Hockenheimring in 2008. Or to Istanbul, you won't get the whole F1 atmosphere there, but the city is very beautiful I heard. A friend of mine visited a F1 race in Spa some years ago and was rather disappointed, you better watch races at those old huge 'natural' tracks at home as you don't see that much from the trackside there...
Well I guess since its my brother and not my girlfriend I would be more interested in the racing than the city I hear what you are saying about newer tracks designed for racing as opposed to old ones where not much happens. It would be preferable if we could do something in the latter half of the year also, even just to give us time to schedule off work. So what are the best races for the die-hard race fan then, not including the ones I listed (China, Japan, Bahrain, Singapore, India)?? Thanks guys!
I like the Spanish GP Mike cost me about £450.00 all in I think , with race tickets bus to track and all that it was nearly as cheap as going Silverstone, plus its sunny or normally is, not the best track for overtaking though but you can walk all round it which I like. Will let you no about gettin tickets and package deals if you like, but the better half normally does all that stuff and I suppose it wont be much use from the UK but if you need info or help feel free.
Mike, sent you PM. First choice, Monza. Been there. History up the whazoo. Second choice, Belgium. Really wanna go there. Third coice, Brazil. Only because the last two WDC's were decided there. I live and work near Miami, my girlfriend is Columbian, if I do not hear the word "conyo" again until I die, I will be a happy man.
