I thought that too, but 0798 lacks the vent (at least it does today, perhaps it was just restored differently) above the hood. I couldn't find any period shots of 0798 that showed this area. Anyone have one? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can't remember where I found this photo, but this is the same car at Mosport in 1963. Pilot was Lorenzo BANDINI. And you can see the vent... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are 2 showing the vent from 1964 #87 Bridgehampton 31-5-1964 O'Brien (front shot) #87 Virginia 19-4-1964 O'Brien (right front quarter shot) I have nothing recorded about Copyright information for either photo and have no notes about the source. Thanks! And thanks to EnzoNZ too. Makes me wonder why they'd leave something so obvious off the car when they restored it. Hmm...
Sebring 1963. The vent is clearly visible. Please credit the David Castelhano Collection Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you take a look on this thread you can see that almost all of them had such a vent. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6089 Note also the different noses on #0798. This b&w photo is from Le mans in 1962. Pilots were Ludovico SCARFIOTTI and Giancarlo BAGHETTI. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It may not be as old as some of the other fine photos that I've seen...but I still find it worthy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great shots of one of Ferrari's greatest drivers. Why didn't Ferrari have cars 1 & 2 in 1980 as a result of Scheckter's World Championship the previous year?
Thanks for a lot of great photos ! I must however correct some non Ferraris : Post 3184/87/88 : 84 = 1963 = Ford V8 / 88 = 1962 = Maserati V12
yes. Imola in September 1979, GP not for the world championship this day there Villeneuve and Lauda are to give beautiful a trouble. http://brunodaytona67.canalblog.com/albums/ferrari__monoplace_/photos/6944762-312_t4_imola_79_villeneuve_aile_av.html
racingsportscars.com names the GTO in the picture below as 3387GT driven by mike gammino. i think that´s wrong. the pic looks more like 3705 GT, but did 3705 GT race at bridgehampton 1963 ? i dont think so, as the car was mainly raced in europe in 1963. could anybody clear this up ?
