Okay, I'm of course like many others, drooling over the pics in the showroom section of Fchat boards... and going through the pictures of some of your garages out there and, well... I've restrained myself and bit my tongue, and know alot of folks don't want to get into it when asked, and you are probably all asked every time someone sees your gorgeous cars out for a drive, but I have to...

What do you guys do, that allows you these wonderful collections of driving joy, and in many cases, automotive history?

I'm just stunned over and over. Here I am just trying to work my way back up to 1 Countach again :) and you guys have 2, 3, 7, 15 cars.... bikes, custom garages... $100k "beater" cars.

    What do you do?

... and are you hiring? :)

** No need for specifics, just wanna know what line of work people on here are generally in.
** If you guys feel this is an inappropriate topic, please close the thread, no hard feelings.

Do a search. there are some docs, some are in real estate, some are corporate types, some are regular Joe's with a bit of extra cash.

Generally theses threads don't have any serious replies.

Didn't figure it would get much serious reply but... now it's off my chest :p and open for anything people want to divulge. I've already done a search and talked to quite a few members on here... quite the variety of folks! It's just crazy to me though that in just about ANY field... it seems these wonderful dreams of huge garages stacked with Stallions and Bulls is possible... Just makes you want to know the one secret to having it be your garage :) even though I know there's not one...

I'll toss in here, for those wondering if I'm just trolling or something ... my background that led to my Countach was in computer networking. Worked for a pretty massive .net for about a year and a half, and quickly learned what a stock option was ... basically, right place at right time I guess. But learned that it really wasn't THAT much in the grand scheme and most of my neighbors have more in their SUV's and big screens for NFL nights, than I had in my car :) So this time I'm working back up the normal (and more stable way)!

Being a Wills & Trusts attorney, I'm sure many have inherited their $ (but will never admit it!), others have just worked hard and are rewarding themselves (like me).

Right now I'm proudly mowing lawns/shoveling walks but I plan to be a Broadcaster for a Toronto radio station since I'm quite funny and it sounds like an easy way to my desired Ferrari.

First though, after University I'm planning on doing two years with the Canadian Peace Corp.

At your age I too was mowing lawns. I stayed in school, got a degree in Chemical Engineering, bought real estate straight out of college and now I'm comfortable and have fulfilled my life long dream of owning a Ferrari...

The key is to do something you have a passion for and not get stuck in a rut.

I went the accounting route, followed by the CPA. Working on a Master's degree and trying to figure a way to develop a niche market. Though I don't own a Ferrari now, I could buy an older one if I wanted to. In two or three more years, I will purchase my first one.

Whatever you do, you will do best, monetarily speaking, if you are a trailblazer.

    here we go again....

    I'm unemployed...but I don't own anything cool.

You'll find we have Adult Film Stars, Swiss Cheese Hole Drillers, Pasta Noodle Hole Drillers, and a plethora of inventors (i.e. the guy that invented the tools to drill said holes)...do a search for this "What do you do" topic...it comes up more often than you think.

Good luck on the Lambo...I'm still trying to get one too...When you get one let me know if YOUR hiring...

    I haven't had a job in 26 years. I can't remember what I did, but I know I don't do anything now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't do anything and see what happens! :D

P.S. To strive for 'material' wants, should not be one's goal!

I am a poker player/coach/trainer/writer for Card Player Magazine and run a subscription poker video training website.

As someone said above, do what you LOVE and you'll succeed and you will never work a day in your life.

By the way, I just picked up my second F430 on Friday. I had an 05 and now proudly own a BRAND NEW Black/Black 07 with 50 miles!!! Very excited. Please throw me a sandwich if you see me sleeping in it under a bridge. Thx.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. My parents have brought me up that way, do what you love and it won't be work. It's like your getting paid for free time. I love talking and it's quite easy for me to be funny, so it looks like thats the way to go!

And my parents have always said to buy real estate right away, because that way you'll never be poor. They said that they'd lend me some money to buy my first house which is always nice.

You get your Ferrari by SPENDING less than you are MAKING and saving the left over money in what's called SAVINGS.

At least that's one way to do it.....:D

OTOH Brittany Spears is single again, so there ARE 'short cuts' available.....

I'm the loser who installed your Directv or Dish Network system! no, I dont make much money, Directv is a multi-billion dollar corporation because we get paid poverty wages.
The way I got my Ferrari? I bought my $310K currently valued house in 1999 for $128K, still living in it today with a 30% LTV, cashed out a few bucks via refi, mortgage payment went up $290 mo., I still have 6 figures in equity, and I have a mint 1991 348ts thats paid for.

I live check to check like most ''regular'' people... my insurance and stuff is chump change, but a serious mechanical failure will definately devistate me financially... and likely turn my ''driver'' into a garage queen for a while. Thank god for low-interest credit cards!

Wow, asking a question like that without even filling out your profile.

Anyway I'll bite, I'm happy to point out than many owners are average people who just work hard and made some good choices over the years (like me). Of course those who have a handful of these beauties are very very fortunate and deserve them for working smarter and/or harder. Sure they may hire you, if you prove you too can work just as smart and hard!
