You need to go to a clock guy - they are a different bred than your typical instruments / gauge guy. The trick is finding a similar movement with the same configuration for the adjustment knob. My guy had a spare so it is just a matter of luck. Several Fiat quartz movements from the 70s will fit with little reworking.

Doesn't the big knob make this for the early cars; M, L series?
while later series E cars had the small knob

Save yourself the hassle and send it out to have the work done. Palo Alto Speedometer (www.paspeedo.com) did mine 4 yrs ago and no probs since. I believe there's a place in LA that does comparable work- don't know their name though.

Try Speedy cables, they did my gauges and made a terrific job of them. Even had the original veglia chrome rings and black bezels in stock!!

Not sure if they do the clocks, worth a call

Well known for their instrument restorations. Got the mechanical movement on my Veglia clock working. They will also do a quartz replacement. Ask for Mike.

did they get it working using the original components (or at least in the same fashion - ie - not replacing for quartz)?

yes, they repaired the mechanical movement; it ticks away. That was about 3 years ago and it still works.
