My F1 transmission works with the engine off. When I start my engine and try to shift into first or reverse, the gear flashes on the LED display, but then goes into neutral with a loud beep. It won't shift into gear with the engine on. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? Everything worked last week. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks, Judd

Check your transmission fluid level first, then check your F1 hydraulic fluid level. If you're lucky, it's something simple like that (best to check the free things first).

Make sure the engine cover is latched. It won't stay in gear if it isn't.

I turned off the power for a few minutes & turned it back on. Funny thing is... it works now! Really bizarre. I hope it doesn't stick in neutral when I'm on the road! Any thoughts? Judd

I'm willing to bet that one of your trunk or door sensors is very close to being out of tolerence or thinking that it is open. This will prevent the car from going into gear. The usual culprit (on my car anyway) is the engine cover. It's right underneath the engine cover release latch on the body. When you look down at it from above, you can see if it's opening and closing correctly if you simulate the trunk closing by moving the latch by hand (watch your fingers). It's a simple fix and rarely any tools required. Hope this helps but let us know if this worked.

It looks like it may have been the sensor on the rear latch. Great to know for future reference.... I never realized that that sensor could prevent putting the car in gear. Thanks again for the helpful tips everyone! Judd
