Went to Coventry the other week, had a ***got and Pea Batch. Hadn't experienced one of these for a number of years. Does anyone here have ***gots on a regular basis, or is it just an old fashioned thing?
I did till about a year ago when my local butcher stopped selling cooked meats because they would have had to have re-equipped a cold store or something for some health and safety reason. Haven't found an alternative local source yet. Shame cos I do like them.
Were ***gots a regular thing for you, or just when they took your fancy? I know my Grand parents used to regularly have them . Do you have wine with your ***gots?
I suppose I used to have them about half a dozen times a year. Very nice with an onion gravy, mash, and a nice glass of red wine My father's family came from Gloucestershire and they were very popular there, so I had them at an early age when we went on hols there.
My kids dont like ***gots, wont touch them for love nor money How old do you reckon you were when you when you had your first mate ?
They are very nice Tarek, they are usually packed in fours, i think started by Brains, who were the first to pack ***gots this way. As Francis says, you can some times pick up fresh ***gots from the butchers.
A former customer/friend of mine got involved with Hibernia Foods a few years back and she got actively involved in the relaunch of the "Mr Brains ***gots" brand relaunch. She even featured in a money programme tv documentary that followed the whole process from the start to final launch at some hotel in London. I don't think the product did that well as tastes have changed and it wasn't viewed as an attractive dish. I know that the controller of Radio One wasn't too keen on them being mentioned either yesterday morning but by last night he had apparently changed his mind
I'll pass, thank you Rob . I don't like eating heart, nor liver and I certainly don't like eating belly fat and those are the main ingredients of a ***got. Yeah, Mr. Brains are packing them in fours. Image Unavailable, Please Login
