I have started a thread on this topic: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175245 But I will post some news and updates regarding "F142" news one more time in this thread too. My dealer told me that "F142" will be launched during Frankfurt Auto Show in 2009, with "F142" Spider coming to Detroit Auto Show in 2010. As my dealer told me that Ferrari are working on very many new technologies but all those rumored tech novelties are under developement process as for now. So it is almost impossible to tell what this car will look like and what new tech achievments it will feature. But my dealer assured me that "F142" will be absolutely new car and will feature completely new style, chassis, engine, interior - everything. Next thing my told me is that with "F142" Ferrari is now focusing not on HP amount, but more on horsepower/ton ratio and that "F142" probably will be equipped with full carbon body. Speaking about "F142" Spider, my dealer told me that Ferrari is working hard now on ultra light and unique hard top retractable roof construction. "F142" will be to the 360 Modena/F430 range, like what the 360 Modena was to the 348/355 range. My dealer assured me that "F142" will be next step in Ferrari mid-engined cars developement. Best.
was spring '09 but with the F430 extension it's going to be Fall '09 now for the coupe. Spring '10 for the spider
It will be interesting to see what they do styling wise to this car? If they miss the mark there, although doubtful, it will definitely make or break the car.
it would truly be a shocker if ferrari "misses" with their bread and butter mid engine sports car....i image the car would have to be a stylistic dissaster to decrease the demand for the car...although a carbon fiber body would be sweet!!!
I'm intrigued about the potential styling. The 360/430 is such an incredibly beautiful car it is hard to fathom what will top it. I suppose the same could be said 10 years ago about the 355 but man...where does Ferrari go with it?
Guys, don't you find it funny that we are ALREADY speculating about the F430 successor? I mean, this model was launched only three years ago and not everybody actually got the car in 2005. What's the reason for this? Is the F430 not good enough? Or even too good to be true? Why not just enjoy what we have now, stop speculating and just wait and see what happens? While I cannot wait to see the successor myself I am just wondering as to why we are all so eagerly anticipating it. Any thoughts?
Ferrari mid-engine V8 cars' life cycle is about FIVE years. Just remember that first speculations and rumors about 360 model range replacement appeared right after 360 CS launch. So scenario is repeanting after the years. 430 Scuderia's launch was that point when new model became not so far future issue and as we all here are in love with Ferraris, we try to catch news and rumors about new model coming. And I want to point out, that many our F-chat comrades are F-customers as well and that news are important for those who want to catch one of the first cars. Thats my opinion. Best.
The word from the GM at my ferrari dealership is that ferrari has told them they may not sell the replacement to the F430 to anyone who doesn't trade in a F430 or 599. in other words no matter how many cars you have bought in the past from a dealership, you can't go from a 355 or 360 and jump to the new car, probably won't be able to get one if you have no Ferrari at all. It's probably speculation but it sounds believable.
430 is amazing car with amazing performance, much better than 360, no doubts about it. But some people (including me) are little bit disapointed by shape of 430 compare 360. Maybe for this reason some people think about car with same or even better performance as 430, but better shape = 430`s successor. Just another thought ) Now i am expecting objects from 430`s owners ) Anyway, i agree its too early to think about new successor when 430 is great and still young car and awesome Scuderia is just coming.....
sanjay knows<------ the 360 came out in 99, its replacement was 05 if my maths correct, it would be a wise move for ferrari to have one in 2010 maybe even earlier. even today f430s are still very highly priced in the market and now with the scuderia and the f149 to be released soon, we can expect great things from ferrari but i wouldnt expect a successor any time soon. thank god!
Maybe your dealer is just letting you know how they will decide who gets early cars. I can't imagine they could be that restrictive. Many owners will opt to keep their 430's or 599's. Dave
+1 To my mind it can be true only on early cars. It is hard to imagine that during all "F142" aproximatly FIVE years life cycle this car will be sold only to F430 or 599 GTB traders. But on early cars everyhting, even the craziest scenario is possible, because the great amount of repeat customers, first time customers and flippers will want to buy early cars. Thats my opinion. Best.
Then again,US market is much different then the rest of "normal" World and nothing really would surprise me here.....
That's true, I may have worded that incorrectly since I am quoting it second hand anyways. Maybe they meant people who own a 430 or 599 not who trade them. It does sound a little far fetched to me, and true, it may be just a way of restricting the first buyers to a minimum and also being able to push people into getting a 430 now and not waiting for the new model, hmmmmmmm nice marketing strategy if so.
Has anyone heard anything about the F430 GT California? I heard rumor about this car but not sure if Ferrari would chop up their mid-engine V8 and put the engine up front to accommodate the +2 seats....has anyone else heard anything?
It is not sure yet how this car will be called, early rumors only. Factory code name of this car is "F149". Just use search opiton here and you will get many results. Best.
If they manage to keep close to this concept (posted last year on the official Ferrari members site) then they won't go far wrong. This was always my favourite out of all the concepts (so much that I kept it). The only things I'd do differently are to use carbon brakes (naturally) and CF in place of silver garnish and ofcourse some slightly more conventional mirrors. If the replacement looks even remotely as good as this and its LIGHTWEIGHT I'm buying one new... Image Unavailable, Please Login
It looks pretty good..... though it reminds me of this Gallardo on this link: http://img16.exs.cx/img16/8163/LamborghiniGallardo.jpg or even this honda HSC (nsx replacement)....... Who is designing the new F-cars?? Are any of the Pininfarina family members designing anymore?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
