I was talking to David, the Aston Martin guy @ LFSC recently. This years Chicago Auto show will once again not include Ferrari, maserati, nor Aston.
He was also postulating Porsche NOT being there.

this site indicates they will be there, along with Lambo and Lotus.
Can you Lambo folks see if FVMC will be there.
I suppose if people keep pulling out, why go?

Ferrari was there last year. It's not in the main hall but in the North hall.

That's really not a bad price. Back in the 70's, when I had my company and did trade shows at McCormick Place, it cost $100K+ for a large booth. That's over $360K in todays money.

I'm really surprised that any automobile distributor would consider $70K out of line today!

The other exhibitors (like GM, Toyota etc) should pick up that bill for Lambo and Ferrari. The exotics are the reason why I go to a car show. Who wants to pay ten bucks to look at another minivan? Just look out the window.

Oops; I should have said our 'TOTAL' cost for the 2 week show was $100K+, that wasn't just for the booth.

Things were a lot different then. A lot of graft was going on so you had to pay through the nose.

The manufacturer doesn't chip in for the autoshow exhibits. It's alot of money out of the dealer's pocket. It's not like people are going to spot the Ferrari or Lambo and say "gee, I think I'll buy one of these instead of the minivan". Serious buyers will go directly to the showroom.

But "Exotics" bring the traffic, people go to see the supercars they have no chance in life to ever be able to buy and after seeing them they go to see the minivans that are in their realm.

I hear ya! It's a shame the CATA takes the fun out of it for the car enthusiasts by charging so much to the dealer. I guess tire kicking at the local Lambo or Ferrari dealership will become more popular especially with free admission there. LOL

True, I stopped going to the show years ago.

Much easier to go to the dealer with no crowds of people, paying for parking and ridiculous prices for a hot dog and a beer. Plus, you can test drive the cars.

The only thing you'll see at the show that you can't see at a dealer are the concept cars!
