    GREAT. Thanks for the photoshop.

What do you all think of this blue/black Boxer scheme?

I personally like it, but I'm sure there are some who will think it was an inexpensive attempt to repair some rusting panels.

I bought this Mondial last year from the original owner. He went to the factory to choose the colour. He also insisted that he and the dealer (Steve Barney) inspect the car at the port of entry prior to clearing customs to make sure the factory got the colour correct. He would probably be pretty mad if I change anything about the car.

Does anyone know if the Boxer scheme was a factory option for the Mondial?

You are quite welcome for the photoshop. I don't think that it was an option for the Mondial,
but the unique color shows that some owners were quite creative in their choices. Personally,
I like it. From a design standpoint, I think it flows well with the lines, giving the car a longer
appearance and a lower profile, without any suspension modifications. I say go for it!

I like it too. It shows off the hourglass lines on the mondial. I have never liked the black bumpers, but this really ties it all together. Should have been a factory option.

I'm not a big fan of the two tone boxer scheme, but I have to say that the car turns out great that way. Especially with the unusual original colour.
I haven't seen a Mondial in that particular blue, would you like to disclose the VIN on your car?
    Best

My daughter (10) just chimed in with a comment. She does not like it so much. She says it looks like a giant bumper with half a car on top.

    Check the mondialregistry.org
There is a Mondial where the owner painted black just under the bumpers.
It would be easy to change it back.
    Nice color

I think painting the bumpers makes it look like trying for a more updated look. I think the Boxer scheme makes it look better without looking newer. I'd rather not try to make the Mondi 8 look like a later model.

Love the color. Not keen on the boxer look or painting the bumpers. Cherish the '80s! ;)

Lol. True, when I lived in Ohio it was common to see older cars black up the beltline to hide the Bondo-of-the-Month effort.

Thank you all for the input. Right now she is in for a belt service and a few other items. She has had the same mechanic (Tom Jones) for almost all of her 25 years. The chassis has about 45k miles. The engine was replaced under warranty at about 30k miles (excessive oil burn). Most all of her miles were in the first five years when it was the original owner's daily driver.

Once she is back from service I'll hopefully get in a good amount of driving and stop thinking about changing the paint. Maybe a supercharger instead!!!

I didn't know Tom Jones did Ferrari service too!

That's a very unsual color for a mondial, I don't recall ever seeing that color on that car. Embrace it! Looks in great shape. I'd paint the bumpers if you've got to do something but I'd vote for no changes!
