It was listed under the road cars. Wouldn't that 575 be listed as a racing car?

I really doubt that those numbers are accurate. I don't really have any evidence to back up my claim, but it is just the feeling I get.

By name your right I don’t think it’s a race car if you mean it doesn’t belong to an recognized race league. But really if not a “race car” what the hell is it? A non street legal race version of the Enzo, the fastest production car Ferrari ever made, but not a racecar.

To answer my own question: But really if not a “race car” what the hell is it? Just fun.

Back to my point the 333 was made almost 15 years ago. I would think that all the development that as gone on the FXX would have al least come closer than the 4.3 second gap.

evo did an article on Fiorano, and the times they listed place the 599 (1:26.500) ahead of the 575 (1:30.000).

Not to be disrespectful but I think I am speaking for all of the younger aged users (myself included being 16) would appreciate it if you did not use our age young against us. We were all young at one point, what conflict should that have with our passion for Ferraris?

What's his age got to do with anything?

I'm well past the age of thirteen (I'm forty), but I would have made the same guess.

I think the boy deserves a bit more credit than you're giving him. I think that most people, no matter their age, would expect the FXX to be the fastest Ferrari of all.

I've read most of "13-year-old's" posts, and I haven't seen him be disrespectful a single time. Furthermore, he has been honest about who he is, unlike a number of others who post on this site, including adults, who have claimed to own cars that weren't really theirs.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who loves Ferraris is welcome on this site, as long as he's respectful. Why don't we all just do that?

...And both matched or beaten by the Maserati Coupe GT.

What's with the gap between the 575 and 550? Can't be right.

3 seconds slower than a 355 is not that bad considering it was an 89. try it again with a SS or spider and I'll bet the margin gets slimer. Don't walk away from the "beloved" so fast.

The 333SP is a light prototype style race car, most likely on full slicks. You really don't get much more bare bones then that short of a F1 race car.

The FXX, while wicked cool, is not a lightweight in the same vein.

The two are as different as a F2003GA and a FXX.

In aside, I would have expected better from my beloved F512M...

I wouldn't call Dr. Kervorkian yet or have anyone hide the razor blades from you ;-). This list is a nice relatively useless piece of information if we want to respond to the original post. How about tire technology since the 348 lapped Fiorano? Does anyone think it changed? With the 348 tested in 1989 was the playing field level if the driver was different or if the tires used in '95 or 2005 or 1989 were different when other cars were tested? When I first took to the track I lapped 4 seconds slower than when I ran the same track with race tires on the car. As some have said, there are some mistakes in the list but the biggest one is thinking it is a comparison chart.

Welcome to the community. These cars are a love affair that will last a lifetime.

As has been said previously, remember what it is that drew you in the first place. If flat out speed and horsepower were everything why would anyone want a 250 PF Cabriolet? Or a 246 Gts?

When it comes time for you to buy your own Ferrari, and I have no doubt that you will, it sounds to me like you know what to do. I'm not a big Cadillac fan, but their recent ad campaign is right on the money. When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

If it is your 'beloved' 348, then buy one. You will not regret it. I have my 'beloved' 328, and couldn't be happier, no matter that it is not the fastest model, it's the one I waned!

Seriously, seems like age really hasnt been an issue here until recently...

Im happy to see younger members(including me) are getting to be a lot more active in the exotic car world.

    Anyways...

Always cool to see the Fiorano lap times.

Anyone else notice the 959 on there...?

I've always loved the uniqueness and the limited amount of Ferrari's around. The first Ferrari that really started my spark was the Enzo. I saw it pictures of it, really liked it, but just brushed it off until one time I was biking around with a friend and heard an unexplainable sound from the right. I turned and saw a flash of red, the only thing I could remember was the red, sound and the back - barred, low with a prancing horse. I biked home as fast as I could and looked on the Ferrari site until I finally found it, and since then, around 3-4 years ago, I've always liked the 348. At times I've loved other cars, but the 348 is truely my favourite.

I beleive that I will be sucessful in life and hopefully afford a Ferrari. I'm either going into Lawschool and working as a defense attorney or I'll attempt to be the next Dane Cook :)

I hope that has nothing to do with me...

    Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Age shouldn't have anything to do with passion for Ferrari. Its fantastic to see an infusion of passion from a generation who could very easily be more attracted by a mind-numbing video game. BUT. Passion for the marque doesn't start with the 348 or the Enzo and a true Ferraristi will know about the HISTORY of the Man and the company. Spend some time researching this great Italian legend either on the web or more preferably with a book. I guarantee you will have a better appreciation for the cars that attract you today and in the future once you are aware of who "Il Commendatore" was and what the guiding principals of the company were in the early days. Enlightened with this new context you will be worthy of accepting the "torch" from us older Ferraristi who grew up as wide-eyed about these cars in the 50s and 60s as you and your young brothers are today.

Enjoy yourself and don't forget to tell us about your first ride in a Ferrari!

"CarreraGTcrazy" on these forums is going to get me my first ride, it'll be a 360 Spider or a 512TR. I'm really excited. I personally know a man (my best friends dad) who owns a Ferrari, but he isn't... lets say nice, so he won't let me get a ride in it. No clue why, he barely lets his own son ride in it!

I have quite a few books on Ferrari's up in my room, along with many magazines. I have read most of them around 1-2 years ago, but every now and then they're good for a re-read!

A few weeks ago, a childhood friend who's been living in Texas, whom I hadn't seen since I was seventeen, came back to Colorado to visit. Of course, he wanted to see my Ferrari. I even let him drive it.

He loved the car, but later told his mother, "My (hot-rodded) '68 Mustang had more power."

Well, yeah, I imagine it did. I do think those early Mustangs are cool; I just couldn't love one as much as I love my Ferrari, relative power notwithstanding. The experience of driving my 308 is, to me, nearly surreal, almost otherworldly, and in my opinion, there are few other cars quite as beautiful. Those are subjective opinions that I'm sure others do not agree with, but that's just the way I feel about my 308, even if it would lose to a souped-up Mustang (and many other cars) in a flat-out drag race.

Drag racing is not what my Ferrari's about.

Andy, as for your friend's dad who doesn't even give many rides to his own son, I don't know why some Ferrari owners are difficult on this matter. I remember when I got my new stereo installed, two boys, about ten and twelve, came running across the parking lot to see my car. Their mother, who had probably paid more for her new Mercedes cabriolet, began shouting in panic, "That's a Ferrari! Oh, my God, don't touch it!"

Ridiculous. I told the boys that I touch it all the time, and it's not fragile. I happily showed them the car and let them sit in it, which I'm happy to do for anyone as long as they are respectful.

Two summers ago, with the permission of each of the boys' parents, I even gave rides to most of a boy scout troop that admired my Ferrari at the Automezzi (Italian car) show.

Andy, though I personally prefer the 308/328 over the 348, that's just a matter of personal preference. Anyone who loves Ferraris is a friend of mine. I'll gladly give you a ride if you come to Denver.

If the 348 is the car you really love, get one. You won't be disappointed, even if there are other cars with more HP. Very few other cars, except for other Ferraris, can match it for handling. In any case, it's pure joy to drive.
