We just got our confirmation for the factory tour next year and have our reservations at the Planet Hotel but we're going to Lake Cuomo just before Maranello. The board has been great for info while in Maranello but I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for places to stay in Lake Cuomo or places to see on the drive from Lake Cuomo to Maranello?

    Thanks!

The little town of Bellagio is called the "Pearl of the Lake", and a good spot to see the lake. The Villa Serbelloni is right on the water, and a great historic hotel to stay in. After coming up from Tuscany, I finally saw Ferrari's in Bellagio and Como. Rent a mahogony boat and driver and cruise the lake on a nice day.

Bellagio, as mentioned, is definitely worth visiting. I assume that you will have a car. I suggest taking the car ferry from Bellagio to Menaggio, across the lake. There is one every few minutes. It is an 11 Euro ride that takes approximately 20 minutes. Have lunch in the piazza in Menaggio. Then drive south, along the lake to Como. There is a turn-off at Lenno that will take you to the road immediately next to the lake. From here you will travel past some of the most spectacular villas you can imagine, including Mr. Clooney's.

Florence (Firenza) is amazing.... the Uffizi, the Piazza della Repubblica, the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno, the Fountain of Neptune ....one of my favorite places in the world... Last time I was there, I spent a week over New Year's... it was wonderful.

    Don't miss it...

May I suggest "Lago di Garda" very nice and calm lake!. IMHO, its more private than Como, but somehow both are good to visit!.

Then another day, Milan could be shopping heaven for the whole family. (I believe you will be pleased with Ferrari store there!)

    Happy Vacations,

Go to Riomaggiore and the other 4 towns in the vicinity "Cinque Terre." Bring your hiking boots and liver! I have been three times - I've had more fun there than any other place in Italy. Go to Genoa and catch the train an hour or so south along the coast to get there.

See Verona - a short drive from Lake Como. It's a beautiful and walkable town. Go to the open air opera at the coliseum. Try to see a performance of Aida. The website is arena.it

Villa D'este is a must. In Cernobbio, on the south shore of Lake Como.

On the banks of lake Como (in Sarnico to be precise) there are Riva, Cantiere di Sarnico and Abbate Yachts, all premiere boatbuilders and worth a visit if you like that kind of stuff.

I can confirm Hotel villa Serbelloni
in Bellagio and also Villa d Este
    in Como lake.
Left Como if you choose to go to East you can stop in Sirmione a medieval Castle built on the water
of the Garda lake and connected with a short bridge. after you can stop in Verona just to see the Arena square and visit the Arena.
left Verona you are in Venice ! the most beautifull city in the world...to me. if left Como Lake you shall choose to go to south west it s perfect the suggestion to go to the 5 terre. 5 little villages
built on a rocky shore and connected by 10 minutes of train
each other ( no use of cars).
after I suggest you to go directly to
SIENA, that it is wonderfull and all
    complete mde with the original
medieval houses ! from Siena going to Maranello you can across Florence.
Speaking of Milan, my city, I can tell you that there are only 3 things really magnificent to visit
the medieval Castello Sforzesco the Duomo Cathedral and ....my box... ahahahah ! and the wall painting of Leonardo da Vinci "l ultima cena" (but you have to book
    3 months in advance)
in Milan you can make also a lot of high fashion shopping.
    ciao
    alex

We're going next June. My factory tour is confirmed for June 10th. Some great suggestions here...Keep it coming! We're going to be in Italy for 10 days. We land in Milan (shopping and Monza) then to Venice, Maranello and Como. Should be a great trip and thanks so much to everyone for the fantastic ideas on places to visit.

    Hello All,

I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I am new to being a member but I have been visiting this site and reading post for quite sometime.

I actually have several questions regarding this thread. I am thinking of visiting Italy in May / June. For my visit I am going to rent a car and I would like to rent a Ferrari. Anyone know of where I can do this? My other question is I have read and heard that Ferraris are quite often stolen in Italy. Is it true that many get stolen just parked out on busy streets? I was looking at a thread about Ferraris on Italian roads. It seems amazing to me that so many Ferraris would be stolen in Italy. Am I missing something?

I want to thank the people that have posted here as it is very interesting and has given me ideas.

    Thank You.

I have rented a Ferrari and driven it to Italy the last 5 years in a row. Stay at a good hotel, preferably one with a secure parking garage, and you'll be fine. I've heard the same about auto theft in Italy. As my Ferrari dealer says, "In Italy, it's a sport."

you can rent a Ferrari car in some
    specialized Companies.
    as www.vipernolo.com in Milan
and www.firstclasscar.com near Milan and www.motorsportitalia.it near Modena and www.rentadreamcar.it .
In Italy are stolen mainly Porsche
    and also Ferraris.
It 's important to sign a contract including complete insurance without penalty for you if the car
is stolen. I think they can do.
If you need more assistance write
    to my mail.
    ciao

Thank you to the people that posted. I have looked at several of the sites. I have been looking at renting a house when I go to Italy. Which I think the rental Ferrari will be ok at when we come back. I was concerned with when we are out and parking somewhere else in a city or village.

    Thank you again.

B*llsh*t They don't particulary steal Ferraris in Italy .Its the same all over the world.A Ferrari should be parked in the right spot, not in a dark road!
ITS NOT A SPORT HERE! I SEE EXOTICS PARKED MORE IN THIS COUNTRY THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY!

it is obvious that if you leave a ferrari which is quite new (usually rent models are the most recent 612,430) unattained its more likely to get badged or scratched than stolen.
Imagine steeling a Ferrari how fast the police will see you! Police are stoping Ferrari very often and thats very good sign of security checks here.

I can arrange hire of several Ferrari in any Italian city especially Rome. Please view my website http://www.lascuderiarossa.com/services/ferrarirentalservice.html

Is the MotoGuzzi factory still in the Lake Region? I have many recommendations for Venice, Rome and Florence, but don't want to overwhelm you. I gather you will be busy. Frankly, I wouldn't bother renting something insane there, unless you don't get that at home. A Maserati, or a Porsche would probably work just fine.:O)
