I was reading this article (http://www.speedsportlife.com/2007/12/29/this-just-in-12m-mcmerc-slr-track-rat-ensures-rich-people-will-continue-to-be-happier-than-you-are/#more-803) about the new McLaren SLR 722 GT when I came upon this *ahem* interesting interpretation of the FXX:

    :)

I remember seeing the FXXs run at Mt. Tremblant, followed by the privately owned Ferrari F1 cars.

NOBODY paid any attention to the FXXs because it was just a boring train running around the track. From what I recall, the only driver who wicked it up even just a little bit was Mr. Stroll.

Now, when the F1 cars fired up, everybody, including the Historic guys, watched. :)

I suggest an FXX-and-McLarenSLR722GT-only race series!

Pretty negative, but I'm sure there is some truth in it.

    100% truth you mean.

Ferrari is always working hard to find ways to take money of rich fools ... and they are bloody good at it, because there are so many rich fools :D

bunch of sour grapes. Most of the guys on here would give their left nut to be vip'd by ferrari and drive an fxx on the track. i imagine they do get some good feedback for the next gen road supercar. who better to give them feedback on what they want out of the next enzo than the people that will probably buy it? i imagine those guys get a few perks at the f1 races too. All in all, if i had the dough, i'd be one of those rich fools too.

I'd rather look fast in a cheap car than slow in any other car ...

... but yeah ofcourse I'd like to do a few laps in a FXX.

At the risk of sounding like a transmission snob, there is no way I would take the overweight slushbox Merc over the FXX.

If this Merc gets within 3 seconds a lap of an FXX at any racetrack I will be mightily surprised, let alone the FXX EVO.

Well, when you consider that for the same money you can buy a F1 car and really get treated like royalty, this is where I would put my money down, if I had it to put down. :) The truth is that the FXX is not a race car because the Enzo is not a race car.

Now, the F2003 F1 car, that is a race car!

I know someone who has an FXX and a SLR 722 and that someone is definitely NOT a fool.

SLR 722 GT or SLR 722? Would be interesting to know what he thinks of both.

I'm sure there is a LOT of truth to it, and why not? Who wants to used untalented drivers with big checkbooks when you have the likes of Michael Schumacher to develop cars for you?

It gives the deep pockets a chance to feel special and think they're doing something, about the only thing I think is used from what they do would be knowing how much is too much to put in a car. If a ton of people start spinning out or crashing then they know that they need to dial it back for the road car.
