... only in Finland!! And that's the lit price, no premiums!!

After government changed the car tax being based on car pollution, all Ferrari MSRP's raised significantly from 1.1.2008:

    430 335.500 euros
    430 F1 348.900 euros
    430 Spider 368.200 euros
    430 Spider F1 381.400 euros
    Scuderia 430.400 euros

So only +80.000- 100.000 euros compared to 2007 prices! That made my Scuderia dreams to end, I sold my 360 Spider and bought beautiful 430 Spider in 2007!

Basicly, the story is that new car tax is from 10 % to 40 % on car pollution per 100 km's so all cars above 200g/km are now 40 %, even You are not driving with them....

Let's see, if this type of tax will spread over in Europe....

The same... car tax is calculated down from MSRP, so it effect all cars manufactured from 2001.

Basically, it kills also all used Fcar imports....

I bought mine from Germany, and had it imported 28th of december to Finland.....

I guess the silver lining is that the value of all recent F-cars already in your country just went up somewhat :)

Well, we have a long trdition with world's most expensive cars. You somehow get used to it. During last few years the tax went down and cars became "cheap" for us... but only for a short time!!

This is now really bad, but maybe it could be a sign/ direction where car tax/ pollution regulation is heading....

Quite many, for sure... if it wouldn't be restricted to a finn to drive foreign licensed car in Finland, unless he has permanent living place abroad.... this is to protect the car tax....

Your country is being put under pressure from the EU along with a few others about the registration fees they impose on cars. It is just insane for them to use the environment as an excuse. Even Helsinki is practically a park there is so much green around. I have a few Finnish friends and have heard about the import laws. There are absolutely no loopholes even if you get a car for a good deal the taxman calculates the tax on his own tables. You really should be able to drive around on foreign plates as it is the EU but I know how your neighbours would phone the taxman if they suspected you were doing that.

My brother does this in Bulgaria. I put the car on cz plates, as registration is 200 euros or so and he drives in Bulgaria avoiding the "power tax" they have for imports.

The really sad thing is that it is all based on a lie.

From 1-Jul-2008 Ireland will also introduce similar taxes on cars based on their emissions. I believe this will indeed spread across more of Europe. It is a very punity way of taxing the occasional driver, but is also politically the easier option when a government is struggling to curb inflation. The alternative of raising fuel taxes would feed into the inflation index.

I'm quite amazed then there are so many very expensive sport cars on bulgarian plates (SLR, Conti, 430, Carrera GT, etc etc the list goes on)

Sofia is pretty amazing for the cars you see there. I have seen lambos, weismanns, the SLR etc etc practically every super car there is, especially in Lozenec where my brother lives. There is a lot of mixed money there from crime, corruption and self made people. For example I know the guy who owns the SLR has Goverment contracts for cleaning up Sofia's garbage. Hmmm, how did he get the sole contract for the city? Another guy who had a gallardo was the son of a property developer. Then you have the mafia guys who drive around in some big Audi, Merc, BMW with guys with no necks following in Merc SUV.

The funniest of all is the Porsche police car:

    http://www.carsandtuning.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/police-car_2.JPG

It was confiscated from some criminals and now the Police chief drives it around. A real *******, he wears big shades and hangs out at the end of the main shopping street in the summer. He looks more criminal than most of the crims.

I love Eastern Europe, even though prague is a bit too tame these days for my liking. There is no way would go back to that stinking Island called the UK.

Well it was something i was expecting and that was expected. Costal cities in BG in summer are really amazing, one carrera GT, another one, Phantoms, Maybachs... BG is quite a small country and they have this show off thing. I quite like that. Still , amazing the taxes still make them register the cars there. I always said that the best contracts you can get on public markets, you get them in banana republics.

Prague, well Prague is different, although the assassination of that young driver (he was the driver of that guy owning some sport complex) a month ago in the city center of Prague smells like mafia.

Registering a car in Estonia on a virtual office address might be the solution? We are all in European Union after all....

There are many who think that the climate change has nothing to do with emissions and such.. they say that it is unavoidable and has happened before and will happen again no matter what we do..

For centuries the earth has warmed and cooled without human intervention. Look at Greenland-once green, now covered with ice!!!

GW is the home of many a neo-stalinist and the UN is first in line with their hands out for a "global carbon TAX".

Funny how China and India get away unchecked. My guess is that they will refuse this sham for what it is, or more directly back it, as it will adversely affect other countries before themselves.
