We get so many threads about what to look for when buying a 308 or 328, it was suggested that we create a STICKY reference. It seems like a good idea, so here it is.

Here are several 308 ONLINE Buyer's Guides available, much of which is also applicable to the 328:

    http://users.skynet.be/sky38711/allfiles/garfiles/fer308bg.htm
    http://www.birdmanferrari.com/tutorial/308_buyers_guide.htm

    http://www.nwrfca.org/faq/308_buy.html
    http://www.fugazi.co.uk/308/buyersguide.htm

If you have any others, please post them. If you know of any 328-specific buyers guides, please post those also.

Also, feel free to post links to your favorite FCHAT threads on the same topic. Here are a couple of recent ones:

But since a while the work does not seem to be progressing any more. ;)
And what about the 328 list? That has been closed for so loooooong now.....

Great thread. Unfortunately not so much to find about the GT4. I was looking for information about what to avoid and what to look out for. What are desired versions/options/modifications and what are typical problem areas of the GT4. I'm planning on buying one this year and it'll be my first Ferrari so any input is much appreciated.

    Best, Peter

    Peter,

The GT4 pretty much follows the GTB/GTS (or rather: the other way around). Technically, they are exactly the same, they share more or less the same space frame, engine, gearbox, suspension, steering, brakes, fuel system, cooling system and electrical system. So anything said on an early (carbed) GTB/GTS should apply to our GT4's as well....

... and then take it to Alex and you'll know if you have a good one on your hands. :)

    Good luck!

    Hans

You can never have too many. I'm a spankin new member and wish I knew what is being posted at this great site. Well, at least I brought a small magnet and a sheet of paper when I bought a 308 GTB last fall. Quite educational too see where work had been done. L8r

FWIW I just bought a 348, but after riding in Bullfighters 328, I want one of those too!!! The bottom line (and thanks to VVassallo I get it) is that a Ferrari is a Ferrari. There are plenty of faster cars, blah blah blah (I test drove Porsche's that were much faster) but guess what baby, THEY WERE NOT A FERRARI!!!

These cars are special in so many ways. Every little kid dreams of having one, so go get yours. Life is short, play hard.

Was the 328 available with power steering?
Just trying to settle an arguement.

    Thanks in advance.

Can a 308 change gear when the key is not in the ignition?

As I am now in the depth of this problem I post this little participation.
My mondial cabriolet is very good looking, that is why I bought it but , ...
It has been electricaly modified and alarm equiped, by previous owners and now it is like the beginning of a nightmare to debug it, and hours of working.
So, If I should buy another car I would look at this point very very carefully. Easy to say, but I would put the efforts on this investigation.
    regards all
