What did you drive when you went to College?

Nuvolari, I had a 1987 325e in high school. That was a great car...maybe the ideal car for a 16 year old car enthusiast. Rear drive, enough power and torque to be interesting but not enough to do anything too stupid, and those great German brakes for when you get in over your head. I wish I still had it...

As for the college years, a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. Another great rear drive (part-time 4WD), straight six, lightweight car. The really don't make 'em like they used to.

Replaced the engine with a 2 litre, built it in my bedroom, mom loved, dad did too and repetedly asked me WHY?

I had a 1984 Celica GT hatchback and a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giuletta spider. Rarely drove the Alfa, but it was always fun.

I was in snowy upstate NY as well with a 1972 Pantera.

 

I never had the patience for college, I was too busy making money to buy a Ferrari!

 

1972 BMW 2002 Tii in Inka orange with the optional seatbelt ring bolted to the rear floor.

 

Volvo 780..?? Jeep Cherokees, Honda Accord, Then finally I bought an M3 (which turned me on to fast cars)

 

You know you're in trouble when you find your car completely buried in the snow, and have to poke around (gently) to locate it- happened to me more than once. That 3" ground clearance on the Marcos wasn't too handy either, but I'm guessing the Pantera was a thrill to drive on icy roads. A local guy had a Boss 302 TVR Tuscan, and regularly rear-ended whichever unlucky soul who had the misfortune to be stopped in front of him.

 

This is me many years ago during my hippie days. I had it painted while at school. Who can guess what year my VW was?

Souped up 1973 Duster with a 340, racing cam and lifters, headers, high rise manifold with Holley double pumper.

 

'58? '59? not sure,,but,, those door levers/those fender lights/those bumpers ,,, would like to see the rear end for the size of the tail lights or the window size/shape
but I'm no pro/expert ,,, was the '57 a split-window?

 

took forever to muddle through college. had more interest than learning. isetta/turner/ac bristol. was a good time

 

Without seeing the back window, but based on the bumper, I'd say around 1964?

College was a motley assortment of family hand-me-downs and repos, ie 69 Parisienne, 83 R5,79 MGB,85 Innocenti, 87 900...to name a few.

A 2002 Ford Mustang GT, although I am still in College.
